Ok so I have a 99 z24 with 70000km on it. The other day I stopped at home for 20 mins and when I went to leave the battery was dead which was very wierd because I dont think anything was on and it was only 20 mins. I boosted it with an eliminator and when the car started it was like the throttle was stuck as it revved straight up to 4000 rpm and would not leave there...after a while the idle back down to 1000 rpm but now surges back and forth between 1000 to 3000 rpm. If i drive it on the highway over 2000 rpm then it is fine. IF i put it in gear with my foot on the brake then it idles fine...
Hope you guys can help becuase I cant think of anything here....
Never underestimate a first gen
I would start by checking your IAC and seeing if it's staying stuck open

Blew it up, build numbers coming soon
ok first check for holes in your intake manifold gasket valve bodu gasket brake booter hose and your manifold vaccume line I f that checks out ok then its probably the IAC
but since it fluctuates I would say you have a pretty good vacum leak. use a propane enrichment kit to find the leak.
I just cant drive 55
if its from dead battery, computer is relearning idle, mixture, etc. mine did same thing, if yours threw a code, (check engine light went on), then reset computer to erase code (i think it was something about iac voltage high?) and you are back to normal, otherwise, iac, vacuum hoses, etc like 98 and robert stated
Hellraiser and Lil Lightning
dont mean to thread jack
my engine 1999 2200, surges/pulses when traveling over 74mph.... but ONLY when i reach that speed. anything lower its totally normal. and if thats not strange enough... some days i can go 74 until it happens, or some 65... but usually its around that range. when and only when this happens, my temp gauge fluctuates too.
would that be a vac leak as well? or any other ideas?? oh, and no engine light has yet come on.... thanks
