well i woudlnt mind hooking up a LED or several of them that lightup in a stream and move back and forth and hook it up to my mirror...

YES I KNOW...SAVE UP AND BUY A REAL ALARM....dont bother me with that at the moment

anyways...how would i go up wiring this up? What should i hook it up to? (Not my ciggarette lighter. Its in a dumb spot on 2001 Sunfire GTs). DO i need to splice wires? I only want this thing going on when the car is off and the factory alarm is set.

The "scanners" (the lights that stream and move back and forth) usually have three wires.

- Ground: find some metal
- Power: Cig Lighter or Ignition (cig lighter is the easiest usually, and these things take no power at all so there is no worry about overloading the circuit)
- Ignition: by the key, this tells it to turn off when your car is on

You can't wire anything without taking something off. The wires are hidden behind all the plastic, how else are you going to get to an ignition wire for example?

Well... you have to start somewhere. But don't mess it up! You could create a lot of problems if you do crappy wiring.
