Car alarms

I'm considering getting a car alarm and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of which brand or model I should go for that's less than 250. I'm looking at a Viper 350HV and it seems OK but car alarms are foreign to me so I don't really know the differences. Any input or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

it really all depends on the features you want. i went to the closest car audio shop (not circuit city or best buy cuz they're too expensive) and told them to just install a basic car alarm. they charged me 300 bucks to do my cavalier and my wife's corolla.

the basic alarm they installed came with two remotes. it locks the doors, pops the trunk, and has a panic buttom. the alarm itself goes off if the doors or trunk are opened before the alarm is disarmed. it also has a shock sensor so if someone hits my car the alarm goes off. i've had it for about 9 months with no problems. you don't need a 900 dollar alarm system unless you just want all the cool features.

GO PATS!!!

Yea but I bet you can't start your car from your bed on those brisk chilly mornings eh?

I just got an ASTRA alarm system installed. We converted my front two doors to power locks. The alarm unlocks the doors when the disarm it, locks when you arm it. When you turn the car on it locks them and when you shut it off it unlocks them. It was only 129 installed from a place here in town. They are great alarms and great prices. You can pay a little more on the alarm and get remote start ect.
