head unit not keeping memory

Heres the deal my head unit will not keep memory ive tried switching wires and combining wires its wired in right what could be the problem if anybody has some advice or know how please help me out here

did u have the wires cut on the factory harness? if so why were they cut? if not your harness you should have picked up came with a memory wire.

Yeah the idiot who owned the car before me cut the harness for some dumb ass reason and which wire is the memory wire?

the "memory" wire is actually constant 12 volts....the ignition wire is what actually turns the radio on. So the yellow wire coming off the radio needs to be on a constant 12 volts....problem solved

do you have the red and yellow hooked up together? if you do thats your problem. Reset the radio and if that doesn't help try a different radio...sounds like a wiring error to me....or your radio is a pos!

Ill have to look at it my head unit is a clarion it worked fine in my t-blaze. i had this problem with other stereos to so its the harness.

yea they have to have separate connections. Im sure your clarion isnt a pos make sure you have a constant separate 12 volts going to the yellow wire. Check your fuses to make sure your getting 12 volts to the harness. Worse comes to worse to make it easy for you run a wire directly from the battery or from the ignition harness but make sure you put a fuse on the line if your gonna go that route!

Yeah ive done that before it was a hassle to do.
