ok so i have a nice new aftermarket deck on the way and would also like to upgrade the 4 speakers. now i would also like to keep them amped by the stock monsoon setup. so....., seeing as the plugs for each speaker have 4 wires, how do i go about hooking them up to aftermarket speakers?, are there any i can buy that will provide me with a pos/neg for the cone and a pos/neg for the tweater?, or do i have no choice but to cut and paste ? im aware i can just get a speaker that has a pos/neg and i know which wires to cut to provide me with sound but i will be losing the tweater correct?
check best buy/circuit city/ tweeter they have a plug thats set up for ur speaker so u dont need to cut and paste. just tell them ur speaker brand and car and they give u a harness plug 30sec install. should keep ur tweeters hook up aswell not 100%. they did in our friend's focus.
i went to bestbuy today and they did not carry the plug , they said they run all new wires throughout the car and bypass the factory amp. to me that seems like a cheap way out, i was suprised to hear that. i would order the proper plugs online right away if someone could verify that i would get the full potential of my speakers out of this, but from pictures it just seems like it just takes away the 2 highs (tweeter) wires and just provides with lows, which would leave your speakers quality pretty @!#$ty.
the monsoon amp is a dirty power supply imo. of course head unit power is a dirty power supply too imo. i would amp them. you can get a somewhat cheap amp for them if you wanted. however to some people they may not even be able to tell a dirty sound compared to a good sound.
i picked up some alpine 6 1/2 components for the front (80watt RMS) 240watt max , and alpine 6x9's for the back. (85watt RMS) 260watt max.
what should i be looking for amp wise for them?, i have never amped speakers before but im aware of how to hook them up. i seen an amp for about $100 , 600watt, 50wattx4 RMS. would this really pump the speakers well or would there be a huge difference in finding a 4 channel amp that can do 80x4 RMS ??? also how important are different brands...., would a no name amp pushing 50x4 RMS sound that much worse then a name brand expensive amp pushing the same?
