alright well i have an auto trans and hahn racecraft doesnt make an auto kit for my car. there is no auto kit for the car, so i would have to modifiy. I was thinking about purchasing the hahn stage 2 kit and then see what my mechanic can do or if he needs me to buy some u pipes so he can customize it? I think it would be easier that way because i will get all the parts that i need. I was searching for some turbo parts for the car and its pretty confusing so why not get one kit with everything i need and purchase the u pipes i need if i need different ones? What do you guys think?

Im not too familiar with the hahn eco kit, as Im an ld9 guy

But dont spend all the money if your gona have to modify it, just piece together your own and save alot of money. Get s saab manifold, turbo, and oil lines, have the shop you know bend you up some intercooler piping and downpipe, then focus on fuel and tuning. I would suggest doing ALOT of research and reading before jumping into something like this though. I know too many kids that will buy an ebay turbo, intercooler, and a safc and think thats pretty much all they need for a decent turbo setup. So thats why I just recommend doing alot of research.
I've been researching for awhile now. SO you're saying i should just get the turbo get a manifold that the turbo will go onto get a front mount intercooler the oil lines and all that and then have the shop bend me some pipes? DOes a turbo set up take away the cat? or is that opitional? If it is opitional then would i be able to get a turbo that connects to the existing downpiping? Its a 3 bolt flang, and if i could get a 4 flang mani a 4 flang turbo with a 3 flang down then it would work ? or am i wrong?

You could have a small custom downpipe coming off the turbo, then with a 3bolt flange that will bolt to the stock downpipe location, but even if you went through the trouble I think it would be a waste causee it would be pretty restrictive using the stock downpipe and cat. Just have the shop make you one, either catless or spend like $50 and get a high flow.
As for the turboxs turbochargers idk...some people said they have had no problems with them, others hate them. I prolly wouldnt use one just to be on the safe side.
And i know you say youve been doing alot of research, but just do alot of reading about tuning cause that will be the harder part.
rule #1-stay the hell away from ssautochrome. they sell junk. there are a few posts around here with vids of their turbos falling apart because they were glued together.
based on your post and your responses, you still have a lot of research left to do. there is a sticky at the top of the forum with a list of everything needed if you were to piece together a setup. if you went with the hahn kit, you'd get all the necessary parts. i believe the only problem with that kit and the auto tranny is the charge pipes. all you would need to do is get a new set of charge pipes made. everything else would be bolt on and go.
take some time and chat with some of the members on here who are very familiar with turbo ecos,ie Ryne, QBE, etc. They will point you in the right direction.
keep reading and you'll be in good shape.
hey man thanks. i've heard a lot that it is just the charge pipes so if having a few of them made would be what i needed then i'd rather go kit and spend the extra to have them few pipes made. the post was very helpful. thanks. any idea how long of an install it would be? cost(no kit cost)?

one more question. I'm only looking to get down to the mid to high 14's. I'm not sure what the car is running now, pretty much stock, but i see that you're supercharged and wwas wondering if anyone had any idea where to get a 2.2L ecotec charger? just to check it out. and would i be better charger or turbo to get the mid to high 14's?

TOO MANY POSTS I KNOW, SORRY. but i found the s/c for the 2.2L ecotec. Not priced bad either.
http://paceperformance.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=167186 Says it'll get me 200 hp. I'll be getting other mods as well, so would that be my best bet in getting down to mid to high 14's? I'm looking at getting a carbon hood and trunk so that'll ligthen it up, then ill get the intake and all that, cams, maybe some more internal engine components. WHat do you guys think? Idk what will do what.

The charge pipes are not the only thing you'll need to change the downpipe will need to be different as well, do more research, not tryN 2 be an a$$hole but you still have a lot 2 learn about forced induction & the different components. For the kind of numbers you want to put down you don't really need internals. Go with the supercharger kit It'll be cheaper & save you a lot of time & frustration in the long run. Good luck, If you have any questions feel free to contact me personally.
It beats a Honda!
Thanks Alias
If all you are looking for is mid 14's I would def. go with the ecotec sc kit. Ease, reliability and power are good reasons why, plus you can always get more power out of that kit. Header, 3 inch exhaust, smaller pulleys, hp tuning, cams and list goes on.
With that hahn turbo kit youre most likely going to be running 13's.
Also seeing as how you have the 03 ecotec its a good bet that you have the @!#$ty ecu where it targets 14.6 no matter what, the GM Reflash would fix that. As hypsy found even with hahns fuel pressure the computer was still compensating to get back to 14.6 afr a very dangerous location for afr under boost.
I would highly suggest the GM Ecotec SC Kit personally

Yeah i'm looking into the GM Eco SC as well. It would be less work, and i would get the perfomance in which i was looking for, so i've heard. I'm shooting mid to high 14's maybe lower 14's with some internal engine mods along side the charger

K dude you are wanting to do the same thing as me, im trying to get my 2005 eco turbo'ed as well, but i would suggest you turbo the car instead of getting the s/c, it can cost around $2000 for everything if you piece yourself a turbo...
Dont buy ebay turbos, get a decent turbonetics or Gerrett turbo, T3/T4 hybrid turbo would be good...
a internally wastegated turbo would be fine, they are usually set at 7psi, which is pretty safe on a stock eco engine...
Buy a turbo exhuast manifold,
have a shop bent you the down pipe, and all the intercooler pipings...
buy a decent sized intercooler... im not sure if ebay intercoolers are decent enough...
oil feed and return lines,
a HKS bov would do fine...
HPTuner - its about $500 but its worth the money, it allows you to tune your car and adjust the a/f ratios,
1-2 steps colder spark plugs...
And thats all i can think of, im trying to turbo my car too and im buying mine from someone who is selling his...
now im not saying im perfectly correct, i dont really know much but i think the above information should be correct, if not, i would glad to take comments, because i want to turbo my eco as well and any tips/advices would be great...

all i gotta say is that i have a turboe'd auto eco and on 7psi i ran a 14.08 @ 101.09mph and that was with a full tank of gas, @!#$ty track, 95 degree weather and spinning to 40mph. if you have any questions just ask me. turbo is never a waste if you dont feel it is.
Yeah i'm just gonna go s/c on the car. I was shooting for the mid to high 14's but heard low 14's are possible with the s/c so im gonna do that. thanks anyways though. sweet car.

Turbo your car will be cheaper then buying the s/c kit... well if you piece the turbo kit together, it will be better and faster, after you turbo your car, save up again and then buy forged parts to build up your engine and turn up the boost, then you will be running 13's and maybe 12's... In the long run, a turbo is gonna be way better, however, it might not be as reliable as a s/c, but i think it will worth the work...

You're obviously not talking from experience, trust me, its
NOT cheaper. If you cut corners, maybe, but that's your choice.

Thats why i said if you piece a turbo kit together, i know that it will cost alot, especially on tuning and maintainence, but some ppl spend over $4000 on a s/c with installation...
