I smoked my clutch and I;m in the market for a new one. I was wondering if anyone knows what setup Hahn Racecraft used in thier 11 sec sunfire.? Any suggestion would be great.
I def want to get one with a new slave cylinder included. The cheapest one I found was this:
Exedy $220
And I also found this decently cheap.
Spec stage 1 $350 shipped
Or should I just pony up and dish out the cash for a stage 2+ Spec.
I'll be purchasing a new alum, lighweight flywheel too.
ANY help or advice would be awesome. I want to get my car back on the road!
I'm turbocharged pushing 8-10 lbs of boost. (225whpish) best 1/4 time in sig... I need this clutch to hold!!!

Spec Stage 2+ Clutch
Looks like your turbo, your minimum clutch should be a stage 3...
hahn is running the centerforce twin disc clutch with a nice price tag of $1600..... you should be fine with a spec stage 3 that hold 400tq

Yeah, i don't think hahn is thinking about what's the cheapest clutch they can use.
I'm back from the dead.
Currently Driving: RSX Type-S.
My Cavalier Burnt up :-(
Yes, I understand that Hahn isn't using a cheap clutch, I guess I should have put that link to the cheapo one in a different paragraph. I'm just weighing my options. MY stock one did hold up for quite a while. That's the only reason i was considering using a cheap one. That and the fact that I'm a full time student with a poker problem and no money. I might even need a school loan just to pay for this project.
I really was considering the spec stage 2+ I think that would be plenty for my hp goal right now. I'll probably be turning the boost down too. atleast till I'm done with school.
My main Q is. Does the Spec 2+ come with a new slave cylinder and everthing else I need???

I think the stage 3 is a puck clutch. I don't want one with this design I've drove them before and hated em. A stage 3 thats not of puck design would be cool tho.

Spec Stage 2+ Clutch
I daily drove a stage 3 without any issues.
I have the stage 3+ and it is not a puck design..but yes all spec clutches come with a slave and alignment tool. I think for you the stage 2+ will be perfect..it basically offers the holding strenth of the stage 3 but has the feel of a stage 2. Best of both worlds.
I didn't know that the spec came with the slave too! awesome! I think I'll be going with the stage 2+ Hopefully I can order it tomorrow!
Thanks guys, if anyone has anything else to mention feel free!

PM us we price match most times, otherwise you maybe paying to much. Also remember if you purchase a clutch from EBAY and it goes bad, good luck getting any replacement support. You will have to purchase a new one as they will not get you a replacement....

id reccomend stage 3+ for anything boosted at all. from what i hear 2 just wont take the abuse
We agree with Vincent stage 3+ works great with a boosted Cav/Sunfire.

I was really leaning toward the spec 2+. How voilent is the engagement on the stage 3+? If it is going to be a pain to drive everyday then I would rather get the 2+.
Hey Turbo Tech. If you could give me a little discount off you current price I will buy from you.
geez now I can't decide.

honestly good luck getting warranty work from spec anyway no matter who you purchase it from.
(just being brutally honest nothing here against TTR)
gravanatuning has great prices on spec clutches.
I think when it comes time I'm going with the spec 2+

it's not bad. I thought it was only a lil harsher than stock. I got used to it quick. Then I killed it.

Did Hahn use a aluminum flywheel? or a stock one? I am thinking aluminum is a really soft metal to use as a flywheel. And hearing all these horror stories, I am thinking about just getting my stock one resurfaced or just buying a new stock one.

Spec Stage 2+ Clutch
Last I heard, Hahn uses a twin plate Clutchmasters clutch.... unless they changed something.
If you need a clutch for your Ecotec Application, check out AllEcotec.com FREE S&H and low prices.
Buy from Karo. He makes good deals.
hahns old 20g setup = clutch master stage 4
hahns new setup = twin disk clutch master
im using a spec IV with the same 20g setup that hahn had. no problems street driving it or clutch problems.
