I've got a friend at work who has an '05 Cobalt base model. I believe it's an automatic. It sounds like what would be a BCM problem, but I'm unsure if the Cobalt has a BCM. Basically, the lights on her dash light up at weird times. She said she was driving down the freeway when her e-brake light lit up, and then went back off after a few seconds. Other dash lights have done this too. Now, she says that when she opens the passenger door, sometimes the dome light will come on, and sometimes it won't.
Has anyone heard of this? I think the dealership is screwing her around on this, and I wanted to get your guy's thoughts.

tell her not to screw with it. take it to the dealer and make them fix it under warranty.
GO PATS!!!
I understand that. I just want to give her better information.
Does the Cobalt have a BCM? And if it does, is it capable of these errors?

it has a bcm. the bcm is capable of those mistakes, however it is not necessarily the sole cause of the problems. might be a wiring issue. needs a tech2 diagnostic scan to survey the bcm functions and history.
That's gonna be tough for the dealership to duplicate.
Wish I had some helpful info for you.

its a common problem , and needs the computer reflashed
atleast from what i understand from the cobalt board
sweet. thanks for the info everyone. I'll pass it on the best way I know how. she's not very car savvy.
