My camaro is black and it has the swirls/spider webs what ever you prefer to call them. What would you guys recommend using to get those out? I've seen some of you detail some cars and you can really bring them back to life. I know the big things are lots of elbow grease, time, and patience but what products? I know some people were talking about a clay bar, what is that?
Thanks for your help.
A clay bar (such as clay magic) is generally used to take out imperfections and crap from the clear coat. Small rough spots of sap...grit, grime etc. Wet the car and run your hand over the paint. Those bumps and crap you feel on there is stuff you target with the bar. After a treatment it should feel much smoother. Next you need to start using a light buffing compund and a low speed orbital buffer to maybe work some of those swirls away. Being very careful with the surface since it is older paint. What I like to use in small areas is Meguiar's Scratch-X....It works really well when it comes to small trouble spots... Colored Wax as well..while only being a temporary fix, it really restores color depth. Remember as you said it all depends on the avenue you wish to take, and the time you want to put into it.

im a @!#$ pussy ass liar! i lied to my girlfriend over and over, sat around with her friends naked and stayed home downloading porn...she loved me and i hurt her...i deserve to be alone and unhappy...no wonder every girl i try to love leaves me...i suck.
^^ Thank you. That site is awesome. I've got a lot of work ahead of me =/ lol
yeah to get it looking the best you're gonna have to use the buffer and polish, which if used wrong can really @!#$ up your paint. I dunno if you have another car/crappy car/someone you know has a crappy car that you could try it out on. or try it on a small part of the camaro i dunno. good luck though
Use the claybar to get the crap that has bonded to your clear coat like Gonzo said. Don't bother using that colored wax....waste of time.
I use
Klasse wax/glaze and it works wonders on our Black Rodeo! I'll have to post some pics. Depending on how much oxidation your paint has you can start out with Klasse All-in-One then use Klasse High Gloss sealant Glaze after that. I let it sit and dry for about an hour then use microfiber towels to take it off. It is a pain to get off, but if you use a little bit of Quik detailer spray it comes right off.
There's not really any oxidation of the paint. Just the swirls and debris in the clear coat. I think a clay bar and a really good polish. I'll look into that Klasse thanks.
