SI test drive expeirance

Well I went to one dealership to check out the SI and they wouldn't let me test drive the SI because it is in "high demand"..............on top of that, they blatantly added 2000 t th sticket for a "demand adjustment"..they try to make it seem like a privelage to be near a "civic", I was baffled. .I test drove the EX jsut for kicks and realized that it seemed slower and more sluggish than my 2.2 at normal RPMs........

.........on to dealership 2 where they brought the SI up front for me and let me jump right in.......This definitley has balls, comapred to the other civis espeicall, takes corners nicely, and seems comfortable for every-day driving. The funny part is that, while I was test driving, a Honda Accord with an exhaust pulls up alongside and tries to race me..can't beleive how stupid people can be.......anyways, the New SI seems like a logical step up for anyone considering a new car.

honda got way to expensive though. the whole tuner craze started because these honda were cheap. now you have to shell out close to 20 for an economy car.

You think your $2000 is bad? Around me they hiked the price up by $4000 cause of "high demand". I told them if they expect me to pay over 20K for a Civic, they have to be kidding, and I walked away, lol

^^^ Try $34K for a Civic Si with 900miles and FHP rims / body kit. That is what I saw when I went to pick up parts with a friend 2weeks ago.

Yet it is still in the lower end in price in the sport compact spectrum (MSRP ofcorse).

I have yet to see a Honda dealership in town here mark them up. They are nice to drive, but I can pick up an 06 Pilot EXL for the same lease payment.

There's one thing that the honda civic has that the chev cavalier has never, and will never have - resale value.

When our cars depreciate to nothing 3 years after buying them new, a civic will still be worth something.

Being on a military base you get lots of young guys who live in the dorms and do nothing but shell out money for their cars. So instead of seeing tons of civics/integras you see lots of STI's, Evo's WRX's 350z's, RX-8's. Dont get me wrong you still see your fair share of civics but they are actually modded correctly. I have yet to see a new SI on the streets though. Actually in person period.

yeah my friend bought a new SI out here in Chicago and he paid $19,900 for it. It looks and drives really nice. I like it but I dont know if I would want to pay that much money for it.

I'd rather have an Sky, Soltice or an SRT4 for the same amount of money. The new civic SI is nice, but I just can't see myself driving a Honda. Sure I'll drive someone elses honda, and my wife was thinking about an element because of all the stuff she likes to carry around, but the Honda brand just doesn't do anything for me. Get an SRT-4 FTW!

Heck, you can even get the new miata for about that much.a

I know when you buy GM there are always rebates but the sticker price on my 2002 ls sport coupe was 18,300 (or around that) So the new SI isn't that bad of a price, and yes I know there are no rebates for Hondas.....lol

A friend of mine just bought one for $27,900 CDN. Nice car, but you wouldn't catch me paying that for it. There's so much more that can be had for the price, Imo.
