yeah the K04 is nothing special, if your planning on going for performance you might as well go bigger and save money from doing it twice, since you have a working sunfire now keep driving it and get the the forged internals done on the audi first and once its running ditch the sunfire, but if the motor is blown you might as well upgrade. Actually now that oi think about it whats the engine code on that one, we have a spare complete 1.8T laying around, if your interested give my the engine code and I'll see if its the right 1.8
Sorry, i didnt go into detail on it, actually i dont know exactly what happened to the engine.
The cylinder head was totally shot, every cam journal was worn down and actually melted in some places, when i pulled the head i found EVERY exhaust valve bent which makes me think timing belt, but the timing belt was ok!
So, i pulled apart the bottom end because at this point i was thinking oil starvation, well... It wasnt, the bottom end bearings showed no sign of excessive wear, and i could move the pistons slightly at TDC so i know the rings were ok.
Making a longer story short, i replaced the oil pump, water pump, Main ebarings, rod bearings, and rings... Then threw a new head on and the car runs perfectly now, well not perfectly because the stock k03 on is has a bad oil leak and doesnt seem to want to spool until 3,000 rpms which is WAY too late on this car.
Only reason i went with the k04 is im not looking to make this one a speed demon, i figure im 19 years old, and driving an audi... Ill just enjoy the luxury, and give it enough power to stomp on the average competiion.... K04, tuning, FMIC, and turbo back 3" exhaust.
The best part is the car will only cost me 90 dollars a month for insurance! w00t! no more car payments!!!!

I pulled the code and it was just a Cylinder 1 misfire... im pretty sure it was set when i first started the engine on the new rings... i cleared it and took it around my neighborhood a couple times (front bumper is still off so i can install the new turbo easily. And it hasnt come back.
I will miss the sound of that Vortech s/c on the sunfire.... And if i had gone with the Hahn Racecraft turbo i probably would just fix the audi and sell it.... Then forge the Sunfire and turn up the boost. But its not really money efficient for me to go back and switch from the s/c to the turbo....

Hey everyone I wanted an old audi 4door that was around here but a flood ended that any I didn't feel like opening a new post about turbo's so I figured I'd ask someone in here. Can I run true duals with a turbocharger? thanks and srry for being a little off topic.good luck with the audi.
depends on the car... if its a twin turbo V engine then yes you can... put no matter what if theres one turbo all the exhaust has to run through it... you can split it into dual after the turbo but it all has to go through the turbo
Yup, full specs on the car are.
97 A4 1.8t Quattro
Automatic trans (waiting to sell my sunfire, and im gunna get the 2.8 5-speed quattro trans, and everything else to convert it over... my price list for the swap is about 2,500 dollars total)
Black leatherette with 1 small rip in the back seat, otherwise interior is perfect
Heated seats OOOOH YEA BABY!
Sunroof
When i got the car it had 1 dent just behind the passengerside headlight, then when i pulled off the front clip i found out the dent was due to a improperly reeinstalled front clip... someone tucked the metal behind the proper mounting bracket, now the dent is gone.
Its the S4 yellow, and honestly looks like it was just driven off the showroom floor.
Heres pics for all that are interested.
WHAT THE HELLL!!!!! I just went to get my cardomain webpage and ITS ALL BEEN DELETED!!!!!!!! I swear i will kill them all, that page had pictures of all my cars, most of which i dont have pictures of my old grand prix anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FYI, on that engine use an actual Audi oil filter, the part store ones aren't right, they are to small, run the big filter and full synthetic or your gonna end up with oil sludging (prolly what killed it the first time)
Yup oil sludge is what i was thinking... but somehow it was only in the head... i took apart the old oil pump and it was very clean.
Yea Audi aparently puts the TDI filter on the 1.8t to give it a little more capacity, and this engine wont ever see anything other than mobile 1.
<img src="http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/3/web/831000-831999/831395_11_full.jpg">
not a TDI filter, TDI filter is just a drop in cartaride, the 1.8 filters are a metal can type. for use we have beetle, jetta, golf, cabrio, ect.. that all use the same filter for the 1.8T and the 2.0, but the passats (Audi A4) with a 1.8T gets a different filter, again still a a can style filter just about twice the size of the normal 4 cylinder filter
