Hey guys i'm looking for a small truck, and i'm trying to find out what gets the best gas mileage. I'm looking for a 4cyl, 5 speed, 2wd, reg cab, short box.

My top picks are:
Ranger

how short of a box?

I have an idea, but if it MUST be a pick-up truck then my suggestion is moot.

My 91 S10 kicks arse, 2.8 v6 and manual tranny I get around 22-25 mpg depending how I drive it.

I get 20+mpg with my '88 with the 22RE, and that is even with 33" tires.

Up here, pretty much all full-size, v8, 4x4's get 20-25mpg. A couple even get a little better then 25mpg.

Um iv owned a couple s-10s and i can attest to the fact that the 2.2 does not get good gas milage. Head over to the s10forums and ask them as well.

make sure and compair the V6's milage wise against the 4cyl's

my friend had a 89 toy 4cyl 5spd , and a 91 xcab V6 5spd , and the V6 got better milage than the 4cyl did

and same with the S10's the V6 will get either the same or slightly better , and you have alot more power with the V6

my s10 gets on average 24-27mpg... too bad you are still in Canada otherwise I'd sell you mine... I'm trying to get rid of it to get something a little bigger... she is exactly what you are looking for though...
