Chrysler 318 HELP
Sunday, July 09, 2006 9:02 AM
Hey guys, my band has a small camper that we gutted to haul all our @!#$ and ourselves around to our shows. It has an old chrysler 318 in it. We've been having oil pressure problems. Lately its been running 20 psi on startup. It warms up and the pressure drops. Last night we were riding down the road doing about 55 and the pressure dropped way down to 4 psi and the temp went way up. So we stopped at a friends house...good thing he lived right on the way. As we pulled in, I could hear the valves clicking and the radiator was making the oh so familiar whining sound and was steaming badly.

Anyways, we poked a hole in the thermostat, and it didn't do any good. We think it might be the oil pump. But we're not quite sure. Any suggestions on anything else it could be? We know the engine will hold up under low psi (its a 318 for christs sake), but we need to resolve the issue before we have to pull that front clip off and lift that bad boy out of there. That's our last resort.
