those things are pretty sick.
has to suck being a passenger on one of those though.
Mmmm '06 Raven. Thats what I'm looking at for next summer, that or the R1 Raven. Hopefully by the time I sell my r6 LE, all these dumb ass's riding them wont have wrecked every single one.
I don't really know you, but i assume your an experienced rider, If not and this describes you, please put the bike back away from the bike, sell it, and buy a different one.
To many parents have bought there unappreciative kids, with very little Street Bike experience, 05 - 06 Ravens and they are laying them down left and right. Its not like a normal blue or yellow Yamaha. These are rare. We have an official count going on in the forums..and its high....
Now, what happened to the rim tape? Did you take it off? I kind of like the rims without it...
Also if you do the exhaust, look into the Slash-cut Growler. Just look it up. Its nice.

so you bought it used? i hope the previous owner didn't beat the piss out of it and not break it in properly...
sweet bike though, that's the one i woulda gotten if i had a little more money at the time (blue, not the raven).

well... 123 hp in a 400 pound bike will be a nice kick in the pants.
ahah tell me about it... but it sucks.. i only have bragging rights of fastest "vehical" for a few more days in my family... till the GNX gets finished, it might be a close race with that (maybe) but since my old man just got word today that his Z06 is being built this week and then sent to lingenfelter i wont be able to keep this title for long

BUY FULL GEAR!! NOW
leather at a MINIMUM, althought i dont support leather for NUMEROUS reasons.
i would personally suggest armored synthetics. im talking jacket, pants, boots, gloves and i assume u have a helmet.
ive said this in pretty much every bike post.
attempting too look "cool" by wearing some shorts and a tank not only, makes you look stupid and ignorant.
when i see a rider with little to no gear on all i can repeat over and over in my head is "stupid stupid stupid stupid". you can be the greatest rider of all the time, but your riding skills arent gunna help much when a car pulling out of a driveway right in front of you with zero time to react causes you to take a nice dive and slide and roll into the assphalt.
wearign gear is the correct thing to do while riding. i know it can be hot sometimes and a hassle but its worth it. if the heat bothers you that much than definitely get armored synths because they can put more vents in synth without sacraficing the wear distance of the material.
anyways, good luck, have fun, and if you havent already taken the motorcycle safety course, take it as soon as humanly possible

Full body gear is so darn expensive. Yes it's worth it, but it kills your wallet. I have a leather jacket that I wear now and yes it's hot, but I feel a little bit more protected. I've lowsided mine already and the mesh jacket I was wearing at the time was eaten right up. If I would have slid down the road instead of across the road, my shoulder wouldn't have had any skin left.
At any kinds of speed, you don't have to worry about the GNX unless it's sub 10s. The only reason sport bikes don't have faster 1/4mile times is because it's so hard to keep the front end on the ground in first gear so you can't give it full throttle, hence you're not as fast as you can be. Heck, my R1 lifts up in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
Just to give you a clue of how fast your bike is compared to mine, I stayed in 6th while some R6 dropped to 4th (I'm pretty sure it was 4th) at about 75mph and I stayed right beside him. The same thing with an older R1 and an 04 750.
Just learn to respect your bike and your abilities and you will be just fine. There are a few books that have been written that teach you all the fundamentals and if you get the time, you should pick one up. Have fun and be safe.
It only takes one accident to make you wish you had full gear. I was hit on my motorbike, by a car who ran a stop sign. Knocked me off, and wrecked up my knee and leg pretty badly. I was wearing jeans at the time, which was just slightly better than nothing. The denim tore so quickly, and then it was just skin on pavement as I slid down the road.
Freaked me out pretty badly. I sold my bike right after that.

well the gnx before from a roll could take a 600cc nothing huge but it would pull a bit on it... and i see the R6 is good for low 11's... and thats about what the GNX will be running so it would be a close race..
but when it comes to the corvette it runs about 2.0 sec for 0-60mph and 1/4mile in the high 9's to low 10's so i dont think i would have a chance in hell.. but then not alot of bikes would

An 11 second car can't hang with an 11 second bike on the highway. You shouldn't have anything to worry about.
I know jeans aren't all that great, but they are a lot better than shorts. The jeans I was wearing held up better than the jacket I was wearing. Go figure.
I cannot support any argument against leather when it comes to bike gear. I have seen as much damage from melted nylon as I have from plain old road rash, both are unpleasent, but one come with the added bonus of pulling melted plastic out of thew wounds.
Get full gear, if you cannot afford it, try "new enough" (google it, they sell good used gear), if you still cannot afford it (head to toe) then, in my books, you cannot afford to ride at all. Sell the 06 and buy an 03 plus gear, not kidding. As a novice rider, you will not see much difference in the bikes anyway.
400lbs!?!!? there's no way theat bike weighs 400 dry, my 03 Honda (noted as a heavy bike for it's class) weighs 373. Of course there's also no way a stock R6 is putting 123 ponies down either.. Oh ya, don't forget they lied about the redline too. Read up, Yamaha got caught telling lots of lies about that bike (the 06 R6). They didn't need to lie, it's a great bike, I don't know why they did it.
Congrats on the new ride anyway. Play safe. If you want to race, enire days at the track are usually under $150 and you are far less likely to die.
My next suit will be roo skin.. Even tougher than cow hide and lighter.

holy hell thats a nice bike
and this is not directed at you (since you bought it yourself). just a comment in general.
What parent in their right mind would buy a teenager a crotch rocket? I mentioned to my mom that I was thinking of getting a bike and that brought her to tears. Geez.
