So as the topic says I got rid of my 03 Tiburon GT V6 tonight.. I ended up picking up a 06 Sentra SE-R Spec V... I'll post pics when I get a chance.. I'll miss the tib I had fun with it and how sexy the exhaust sounded.. But I needed something with better gas mileage and I missed having a manual and the 6 speed is nice to have. The Spec V is black with black interior no brembo brakes or audio fanatic package really the only options it's missing.

i love those cars and was about to buy one. however, i heard they had some real problems with the 2.5 motor. they were burning oil a lot and in some cases caught on fire. i didn't hear about so i asked the dealer and said he heard that nissan didn't really want them to sell the 2.5 until they got the problem fixed. (this includes the altimas) but anyway, enjor your car and i hope you got one without any problems

I talked to the dealer.. They said it was ones with a certain build date.. It was prior to June I believe.. The build date on mine is June.. He also said any of the recalled ones on the lot were sent back to Nissan to be repaired.. Which could explain why they only had 2 Spec Vs on the lot in general.. Well I did find a link online where you can do a VQ35 motor swap in to the SE-R out of a 350z/G35. A guy on the Nissan boards does it for 5k total parts labor etc.

Why buy a car just to swap the motor?
Can we get some pics? I am pretty sure I know which car you are talking about.

Eh I was going to blow around the same price on the tib to turbo it or supercharge it.. Figured I could just blow it on dropping a VQ35 in to her just with that alone and the 6 speed mated up it will do a 12.9 1/4 mile at 105mph..
I'll put the pics of my car up later I have to take it back to the dealer to get her detailed today.
Below is the link to the one I found on the web.. On streetfire.net there is 2 vids of a VQ35 sentra one at the track and the other watching the guys speed accelerate from 0-138mph
V6 Sentra

I was just wondering why you wouldn't just buy a 350z or something w/ that extra money.
Edit: Looking at that site her ran 12.9@105. He must have used slicks to get a good enough 60' time for that.

Insurance costs, and practicality are two good reasons to buy a Sentra over a 350Z. Good luck with the new car.
that and buying a sentra and swapping the motor would still prolly cost less than buying a 350z
OK, it doesn't have to be a z, that was an example. I guess I dont see the point of buying a brand new car just to void a majority if not all of the warranty.

Warranty doesn't matter to me really.. Besides you take a VQ35 drop it in to a sentra with a 6 speed it's going to weigh less then the 350z and cost far less.. The whole swap with parts labor etc is 5k a SE-R is about 21k well mine was since I didn't get the the brembos on it. Plus 2200 in rebates etc. So figure close to 300HP at the crank in a 2700 pound car. No mods the car goes from a low to mid 15 to a high 12 with the swap.

Exactly.. The car is lighter for one my insurance cost would be a hell of a lot lower as well.

My buddy has a red one with brembo package. Nice little car. He's getting about 34.8 mpg around here on base. On the highway he averages about 40ish. For those that dont know it actually tells the gas mileage on it. So thats how he knew what he was getting besides doing the math.
Great little car. Has lots of room for being so small. The 6-speed feels great. Stock rims are pretty sweet. He did a weapon R intake and a throttle body spacer so far and it sounds sweet.
Shave the badges and drop that bitsh!

Drop will come eventually.. She needs a intake and header plus the rest of the exhaust.. Also a short shifter and my SAFC II installed wouldn't be bad either. I'm kinda partial to the SE-R badging it makes the black look not too boring.. But then again no badges would be a nice sleeper look.

A buddy of mine that I used to Autocross with owned a Spec-V as well, one thing he didnt like was that the paint on it was very poorly applied. It may be different for your but it might be one thing to look out for in the future. My friends chipped So much, and they weren't small chips, there was one piece that was the diameter of a baseball on his side mirror, it was crazy. Liek I said, it MIGHT be something to look out for but it also might not be. Got yourself a good looking car there though. Congrats!

Thanks. Ya the Tiburon was having the same issue.. The front bumped had paint peeling off the spoiler was oxidized and portions of the roof were getting that way.. But on the 04-05 Tiburons they resolved that issue. So hopefully its the same with the Sentra.

my bros friend had that car. same color to. he liked it alot. he had a cold air intake on it and im not sure what else. but he had to sell it because he messed his arm up and couldint drive stick anymore. now he drives a jeep with a 3 inch lift on it. but nice car. i would leace the SE R on the car and take the sentra off.
i like the older se-r front bumpers better than the ones they have now
Logic does not compute. Whiskey tango foxtrot? Buy a 240z and stick any number of better engines into it? Cheaper faster, better insurance, etc.

yeah the newer 1's got a nasty front bumper
but with shaved emblems and different tires , kinda makes for a sleeper

Newer sentras need a lip .
But they are pretty quick for stock , with the nismo cold air, the VVTI sounds bad assssss.
Overall a nice car, good luck with it
