It's a sweet car, but I'm betting it wasn't making them much money, and that is what they are looking at right now.

Sold 2/2/05
wow, they bring it back, and then boom its gone.
I talked to a guy who purchased one and after dealer markup paid 240k as opposed to the sticket 166k. With inflation like that, who would pay that for it.

It's one sexy looking car. I wish they would keep it. The point of that car was not to sell models, but to attract buyers to look at it, and come into a dealers showroom. Then hopefully they would buy something.
The GT was really lacking power imo. It should have had a much larger motor, or way more boost.

ya 166$ is the price, but now if u want the stiches around the seats will cost you extra 25,000$
i guess he took all the extra options and adds up but there is no need to add all that stuf
I kind had a feeling about this. I think the main reason why it was built, was because of the "rare" factor. Kinda like a Carrera GT and the Enzo.
Definatly sad to see it go
dan
I'm not sad to see it go.
The cars were way too much trouble to produce, they had electrical problems out the tailpipe, the factory immobilizer bit it within amonth normally... I seem to remember that Ford had to shift production from one sub contractor to another because things were getting messed up constantly....
If it were handled better, it would have been a little harder to let go. And it would have been WORTH the $166K sticker, and any premiums the dealer tacked on.
Either way, it didn't live up to the legend.

it was a DAMN! nice car... neighbour has a black one but for the money if you wanted a car like that id be much happier with our 2007 Z06 corvette... even with the Lingenfelter turbo package its still cheaper and 2x's as fast

Maybe, but I know for sure the two that we had at the dealership down here sold between $200--$300k+. I'm not sure whether or not its the same case around the country, but I think Ford just had a timeframe for it and we have reached the end of it.

the wife's millionaire uncle purchased a red one a few months ago. It's definately a head turner. Personally, I'd rather go for the vette though.

Red 2005 Saturn Ion-3 Coupe

agreed
although a new corvette ownz it in doller for doller performance.
The same thing was said about the Toyota Supra...
I'm going to have to say proof negative.
The SSR maybe, because it was actually sorted out, Ford GT will because it's the "best try" And it's going to be Ford's new White Elephant.

i seen one at a local dealership. couldnt get near it. but i was amazed to see one, in central wisconsin of all states. lol.
neat looking car, not sure what was paid for it, but he told me 167k$ for the car.
I was talking to the salesguy(mother in law bought a 07 fusion). and said i would rather have a new vette. he told me the GT has 500 hp and is way faster. I told him the vette has 500 hp too and no supercharger. (end of conversation).
anyways, seems like a cool car if you have the $
it was built as a limited production vehicle
they were planning on killing it after a few years
Ford wasn't counting on their subcontractor to f**k it up royally though.

hell that car will kill a viper any day
Kustom Js wrote:hell that car will kill a viper any day
I would hope so since its twice the price.
it would also beat a vette on the course, which it was designed for
and was built similar to the GT40 of yesteryear that was a ferrari killer
the car was superb in everyway but it had stupid electrical problems and a couple other things
I read somewhere a that Ford was only producing it for a short time as a revolving series of limited edition cars called "Living Legends" The first in this series was the Thunderbird, the second the GT, And at the time (was like 4 years ago) the next was the shelby cobra concept they showed a while back. I'm sure money woes have killed the Living Legends" program though for now.
