Someone is selling an old cutlass for 5k locally. Looks exactly like this except a darker green.
Has anyone had experience with these? I'm not sure if it's even worth buying but I thought it might be fun to drive and clean up. Any opinions?
What are the stats on it?
68-72? 442, H.O., Cutlass S? hardtop or post? 350, 400, 455? auto or 4 spd? disc or drum front brakes?
They're fun cars but love to rust out. My friend has owned a bunch of them over the years and I know a little about them from helping him work on em and being around em.
If it's nice and five grand it's more than likely a Cutlass S with a 350 2bl and an auto. It would be a decent deal as long as it wasn't a rust bucket or has been fixed correctly. Check the floor boards, trunk floors, frame by rear axle, under vinyl top/rear window, core support, lower fenders, wheel wells, rocker panels, lower 1/4's, bottom of doors and hinges, for any bad rust.
BUY IT NOW
muscle car prices keep going up and up
nada showed these for a 69 Cutlass S with 4 speed and 350
$4,658 $8,913 $15,353
so depending on the condition

I havn't gone up to the owner, just driven buy (slowly) and I did not see any rust. The tires looked a little deflated so it's probably been a driveway queen for awhile. Right now it's under a tarp so i'll go see if the owner will let me check it out.

its under a tarp and you drove by and didnt see rust? that doesn't mean crap rust doesn't have to be showing like holes it can be bubbles
No, it was out in the yard for awhile, and ive driven by and could see no visable rust anywhere on the car. I could see under the door and there wasn't any rust. I was only looking for rust and deflated tires.
It is now, as of the past week, been under a tarp.

But for Gods sake do NOT put giant ass wheels on it.
Some 15x10 Torq-Thrust 2's Mmmmmmm <drools>
^^^ 16x9.5 is pretty common. 16's I think are about perfect. Look damn good. Lots of rim without going with the ghetto "bling bling" look.
Really all depends on the car. My '70 Monte is rolling on 15x8's rear, 15x7 fronts, 245/60r15 tires, (I need to have the rims repainted, the rears are almost older than I am, and the fronts are new) and looks perfect.
I could see 16's on the Cutty, but might be just a bit too much.
actually a nice muscular 18 can look good looks at some of the cars chip foose has done but yeah I wouldnt go any bigger than 18
its got a lot of open space on the body by the rear, put some 17's with some nice sidewall and it would look mint
the big space there above the rear tire will make the wheel look smaller than it really is
i agree 18's max, i love that body style

Depends on the wheel... Foose Design does not make a bad wheel that I've seen.

around here too many ppl bastardize poor old A-Bodies with 24"s and running boards, yes running boards. but you cant convince them that it looks like crap. but yes buy it, swap in a 455, put on a H/O hood and call it a day.

If it's close enough to stock and has numbers matching: restore
Non-numbers matching: try restoring
