well I just traded my 1996 chevy blazer to my uncle for a stock 1987 Mustang GT 5.0 Convertible with 91k miles. He babied the car so I know it's been treated good, not a spot of rust anywhere which is rare for a car like this up in the midwest. The car needs a little TLC but nothing i can't handle. It's in desperate need of a new top, and a passenger window motor and the paint is a little faded. I pretty much got it for free so i can't complaing. I have big plans for this car. The car should be running 12's by summer. I'm shooting for 550-600whp. I've been reading up on the engine and apparently it doesnt take much money to get a decent amount of horsepower. On to the pics:

Why does it suck? It is a foxbody which was light weight and was a bolt on queen. Wouldn't exactly say a car sucks when it could leave you viewing tail lights period.

Had to change sig because some dickhead is mad it went 1 letter over size

That's nice regardless but ,I always hated that wheel for that yr while the stand does have better wheel choices that are factory aluminum and some peps go chrome plated hole type wheel which look far better and easier to clean.Friend of mine had a 87 it was cherry with the hole type alum wheel hatch with the 5.0 burgendy hardtop nice car but cramped for those pass in the rear seats.Nice car overall and always like that body style myself.

Dude, you could get a Fox into the 12's with 400hp. You would be looking at 10's or 11's with 600hp. I'm not sure that 302 would handle that kind of power though, you would probably need a bigger motor. 429 FTW!

Looks like a nice car, I like it.

get rid of speed density. it's the devil

a good friend of mine ran consistant 12.9's with 293 hp in his 91 hardtop LX. 600+ is PLEANTY to get you into the 11's and 10's, possibly 9's with a good launch.

stock 302 blocks are good for around 500 crank horsepower. after that, they split in half right down the lifter valley.

dont forget subframes, especially with a vert.

anyway, very nice lookin car. i think after i get a daily, a fox may be my next project car. though mine'll be a manual black hardtop. congrads on the new toy.

Andy

it's not how fast you go, it's how you get there that counts.
ZZP XP cam, 1.6 rockers, 105# springs, speedbuilt FWI, 3.3" modular pulley, TOG headers,
3" exhaust, flomatched injectors

Try 300

I've seen plenty of 9 second time with a 347 (which is a 302 block). So yeah...if built right...it'll go fast.

What do you have planned for mods??

Lots more to 1/4 time then just HP/TQ ... but we all know that.

Nice Car. I like the color.

as for mods I'm deffinately going to go with the Trick Flow Twisted Wedge Engine kit, and a 150 shot of nitrous first, later on I might make the leap to a supercharger.

Get some 3.73 gears first. Probably one of the best mods to do.

It's an AOD so i think i'm going to go with 4.10's for right now as horsepower goes up and traction goes down i'll probably swap to 3.73's

Re: My Foxbody

I'd just go with the 3.73 first....especially with an auto.

Cool, you just got the shltiest of the shlt. Most elasticy chassis produced now even better as a drop top!

you'll never see 550+ reliable rwhp out of that engine. You'll see the block split in half before you do. Infact, if your shooting for 12's with 550-600whp you midus well put a sticker on the damn thing that says "I couldnt afford a Supra so I bought a Mustang instead"

Good luck to you. I hope you have a welder and know how to use it, cuz that and a LOT of extra steel is the only thing that will help keep that car together.

Peace.

No...you see, unlike 98% of the retards on this site, I know what Im talking about and its all from first hand experience. Ive built a few stangs and worked on even more. Never again.

The fox chassis is good for ONE thing. Being light.

Its sloppyness and flexability is quite apparent when you see them launching at the track the the trunk swings open, the roof buckles in and the passenger side quarter panel ripples.

even with SFC's they bend, and verts make it THAT much worse.

You want to argue that? Spend more time at the track and see for yourself. Hell, did you see the episode of pinks where one of the foxes popped its trunk open when launching?

Enjoy your jello-mobile.

Peace.
