My girlfriend's brother has a 93 Camry he is williong to sell to me for $1K since I'm now in need of a car. We're putting a new motor in it this weekend - the current motor has a bad knock. It still runs but a motor from the salvage yard was only $300 and it came with a warranty. So basically I'm buying the car for $700 and paying him for a motor, which is fine. The body is on good shape, no rust from what I can see, the interior is clean, and it has a clean title. It's a V6, automatic. I've never heard anything bad about these cars but I thought I'd ask in case anyone here has had experience with them, maybe they can tell me what I'm getting into.
ive got a 92, just picked it up maybe 2-3 months ago and so far its been a good car only problem i had was a CEL which was cleared for 50 bucks and my door handle broke off but that was cuz i washed it when it was cold out. theres something wrong with the car tho, after driving for say 10-15 mins there is a strong burnt coolent smell but it doesnt appear to be leaking anything. ill fix it this summer i really only wanted it for this winter but i should prolly keep it as a daily for the summer since i dont drive my cavy much. i like the car tho real nice, fully loaded, good heat, p. sunroof, roomy inside.. sorry i couldnt be of more help.

Yeah I just need a good reliable daily driver. I won't pick up the VR4 until spring and even then I want to have a daily driver because as much as I love VR4s, they have their own little quirks. The Camry jsut seems like a decent choice. More roomy than the Cavalier - I'm 6'3" and 280 lbs - better ride, more power in stock trim (the motor is rated at 185 I believe), and I love 5-speeds but teh automatic would be a nice change.
oh i agree im 6'2" myself and its quite roomy inside, but i have my seat all the way back and tilted back quite far.. lots of leg room but the back seat is kinda small for a sedan i have to move my seat up if someone wants to sit back there...

my moms got a 95 i don't know if that's the same body style or not
but, it's a 4cyl auto, i think in the 120K range and it has been a good car, only afew problems
a/c broke
cv joints needed to be replaced
it's making another suspension noise now
trans is starting to shift funny
timing belt tensioner locked up and left my parents 80 miles away from home was the only big thing
but for 12 years and 12X K it's been a good car, id say go for it.
