I honestly dont think its going to be up to Par with the Atom, especially since its gunna roll in at a more expensive price...But it definitly looks alot sicker....

Looks cool... but I'd have to see the engine and price point before I'd say yes.

220hp Audi motor and possible a 300hp SC engine for alot more. Price I believe is 54k for the base

Then I don't think I'll be going for that...

Not until I hit the lottery at any rate. Looks pretty awesome though.

You don't even come CLOSE to smoking a z06 LS7 equipped.

505rwhp > 300whp. Isn't the Vette lighter then your fat VW as well ? Hell, it even gets better mileage !

My Cav
I give up...
i'm buying a VW those people love trees, so they should love eachother too... "Andy"

well congrats on the numbers 300whp is nice on that 1.8T but i dont see you taking out a 500hp vette..

and for the record. i was refering to turbo go fast parts. basic stuff like a timing belt, h20 pump, clutch, etc.

i pulled my friends vr6 golf w/EIP kit on 8psi. when i was on my old setup... there was no way my car could have taken out a z06.... ur talking a very low 12 second car if not high 11s and the new ls7s are dipping into the 10s

with all the good luck with the lsj, i cannot imagine why it wasnt used... maybe to differ from the attom? who wants to spend almost 30k more for the same motor with a different brand car

400 hp? on stock internals? for $1000 in mods?
however, this is not the point of this thread, don't get it locked people!
Back on subject, the KTM seems to have a more complete body... still, it's not worth the price, IMO. also, the Atom can be purchased as a rolling chassis (I think), so that opens up all sorts of possibilities... it's sold with a Honda K-series (s/c available) in Europe. maybe a rotory engine could be made to fit... or a 4G63t, or an Audi/VW engine, or... well, you get the picture.

I'm going to guess the Vette had trouble hooking up or was dogging it or something because the speeds were way low for a Z06.

Anyhow, -2100 pounds? did you cut the back end of the car off? The Golfs porked out after the MKIII's (I've owned a MKIII and had a MKIV for a little while), I mean, it's about 300 pounds lighter than my Alero (the Golf is 1377 kg = 3035.7654 pounds stock, the Alero is 3350 without me in it, and we won't get into how much it weighs with me in it ). I thought the GTI's only came in 1.8L Turbo (4 valves/cyl) or the VR6?

Unless you gutted the interior completely and shed a good bit of sheet metal (Tail gate, windows, hood, fr 1/4's, and roof), I'm having trouble figuring out how you've got a car that's under 2000 pounds, and one that you can run legally on the street no less with under $1000 in aftermarket parts.

Either way, you may have a hot hatch, but what's the point after doing all that if you can't have another person in the car? You've still got a Golf, and a Golf just isn't a Corvette.

As for the KTM: I'm not feeling the look of the car, I'd go for the Ariel Atom first, but I'd look at the Grinnall Scorpion... Sure, it's a BMW engine, but it's more fun to get up on the rear wheel Audi Engine not withstanding, it's a little too pricey and a little too open for my empirical tastes.
