GF looking at an 06 G6 GTP... 3900 question.

Is this a nice engine? What are the specs? Does it take regular or Premium gas?

Thanks.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it based on the 3800 block? I mean its a pushrod 90* V6 right?

my friend has one. They are very smooth. Im not sure on the gas but i will ask him. Call is just awesome. The interior styling is cool. I sat both in the front and back and i loved it. The only downfall is that they dont make them manual anymore.

No .. it's actually based on the 3x00 block ... it's a 60* V6, as for specs it has 240 HP and 241 TQ. I have an 06 G6 GTP 6 Spd coupe and I absolutely love it. It's got lots of power an torque and with a few minor mods you can get impressive gains. The platform is stiff and rattle free, the monsoon stereo is good (would benefit from an aftermarket deck) and the interior is awesome.

Overall I would recommend a G6 to anyone

Well, she drove it today, and said she likes the old 97 GTP of mine (which she drives) better, so she doesn't want it anymore, I guess.

Crazy, as much as I love my 97 GTP, I think the G6 GTP would be much nicer.

I think the it was the 2 less doors that lost it for the G6, IMO

The answer is obvious ...

She needs a GTO.

Rather, you need a GTO ... and she can have the GTP.

Its a win-win.

The Series III of the 3600 V6's use regular gas, if it is not supercharged. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that is what I remember from what my gf's 07 Grand Prix manual said. And, from what I heard, is that GM fixed the intake gasket leak on the Series III.

Too bad she doesn't like it. They are pretty nice cars and decent room in the backseat.

I have a 2004 Grand Prix and love it. I think the bugs were fixed in the 3800. THe Grand Prix is the only GM line that got the 3800 III withe the new Supercharger. Before anyone say's the Impala did not get that engine nore did the Monte Carlo they kept the same Gen II engine and older supercharger. 2004 GTP can use 93 and 87, the computer adjusts for the 87. I was going to get a pre 2003 and glad i got to drive a 2004.

A co worker has a convertible G6 and love it.
