LS1's are getting swapped into everything, and this one is not the first I bet.

I think I remeber seeing a s2000 with an ls1 when I had my camaro. Im sure there are more out there. Like mentioned, the LS1 is getting swapped into just about every car possible. After I restore this MG im working on Im going to pick up another one and try to do an LS1 swap into it.
Wow, I guess we will all be driving something powered by an LS-1, one day.
i vote that v8s come standard from now on
I wish my little Toyota truck had an LS1. hmmm.......

Oh yeah I forgot to mention my co-worker just finished up an Austin Healy replica kit car. What engine you ask? An LS1 out of an '04 GTO

It sucks he has the same engine as me but is way faster since his car weighs at least 1000 pounds less than mine.

This should be a greater priority than world peace or finding Osama.

2006 tC - Dust Covered, but driven more
nice.....an s2k that actually has torque
^^^ OR how thrown-off the weight distribution is.

shouldnt be that bad.. the s2000 is a 50/50 weight distribution. the stock f20/f22 sits a lil back. the fact the ls1 isnt iron block or head, i doubt it will ad more then 50lbs or so..
i know on the nissan 240sx. going from the cast iron 2.4 to the ls1 you actually drop weight.

Oh yeah... But I don't think the F-series is an iron block.
And 50 lbs isn't much, but at what cost?
I'm sure twice the torque at half the rev more than fixes the rear for what was added up front. DoD, Drift on Demand.
Sweet!! what beats the LSx?
noooobooooooddddy!
I need an LSx in my colorado

your right, the F-series in the s2000 isnt an iron. im just saying for the weight of 4 more cylinders an another aluminum head. the gains from the torque alone, never mind the horsepower. woudl be well worth it.
in the thread he said instead of going turbo. full race turbo kits for that car are aroudn that 5k area give or take. the cost of that, motor rebuilt and forged parts. aroudn 10k. most likely the same as the ls1 swap. but the power is more "useable" looks like he has his own shop and the hardest part will be the wiring... from the pics he posted. it looks like it almost lines up with the stock s2000 mounts

Heh, funny you should say that... their 2.0L & 2.2L had more torque then your 2.4L.
yeah it makes around 150-160 ft lbs tq but it makes it at around 7800 rpms. but thats the trade off with a 9k stock rev limit i guess.
props to they, i doubt more poeple wouldnt do this if there was an actually kit like with a v8 s10 or older Z

Quote from the builder---car is getting its wires tucked, engine bay shaved that is why the primer is on. specs on the setup are kind of a secret. it is a special combo that makes everything fit like it belongs. this swap doesnt require cutting but it will be a little front heavy that way...i did opt to cut some bracing and modify the firewall enough to push the engine back an additional 3.5 inches. and due to the stripping/shaving/tucking of the entire front end the car is now lighter than stock and is very close to keeping its original weight distribution. i have deleted the abs and moved the battery to the rear also to help, i think i may have to put it back.lol
LSx block is about 225lbs. Nearly double the LS1 or LS2. Also, its more like a beefed up version able to accommodate 2500hp.
My 78 280z is only going to weight about 70 lbs more than stock with the straight 6 iron block, and that is actually the doing of the T56 transmission that weighs a ton (not literally)! If i decided to go auto, then I would have lost weight.

I was saying LSx in regards to either a LS1 or 2 the X can be used to generalize using any LS engine
