I work at a local chevy dealership and I noticed the other day that there was a "Special Edition" cavalier that came into the service drive. It had the rear sunfire sedan spoiler, and it also had black racing strips down the middle. Looked at it for a little bit and I thought it looked prety cool being from the factory and all. So this is the kicker. I went to parts department to get a part number and a cost for the racing strips and they don't know what I am talking about. The only thing that i can think of, is if GM used racing strips form the old S-10 extremes, because the parts department is tellin me that that is all that keeps coming up in there system. So I guess the question is, did GM use S-10 extreme strips,is there a part number for these mystery strips, or does anybody know where i can get them from? Thanks for all the help.

can't the dealer give u the parts number for the (mysterious?) stripes?

as far as my recognition goes, the car is that someone has tried to pull it off as what it ain't.

^^^no, ive seen em too and they are the s-10 extreme stripes with a sunfire 4 door spoiler. look ok, but im not down with racing stripes, and its just another gimmick to sell the car. kinda like the "RS"

Nope, can't give me any parts number, becuase there isn't a number that shows up for that particular part that I am looking for under cavaliers. The only strips that come up for any GM, are the ones that are on the s-10

As far as passing the car off as somthing that is not, they do exist. I have seen them brand new on dealer lots, but have never really looked at them since the one that I noticed the other day in the service drive.

Okay, i've seen one of those, i did not know they sold them brand new lookin' like that? just thought someone did themselves?

i'd say no to racin' stripes though (JMO), specially on the J's.

i hate to say this but your kinda wrong..


gm did make them as a Special Edition just for 03 they where sold for like 4 months i do recall. then made about 200 of them just for then new body style... they where listed on chevy.com and the tag on them where about 17,000.

Tell the guys at your parts dept that they're all fired! Then after you get someone in whos NOT a moron have them look up an '04 Cavalier, Tell them to go to the group 12
illustrations and then to page 3. Theres your car and stripe kit. Its expensive as hell tho hence the reason I made my own from vynle. If the guys still can't find it let me know and I'll post the part numbers for you. BTW they only came in black or silver and the sections are all sold seperately and YES it came this way from the factory its not dealer rice. If it were it wouldn't have its own RPO code, B2E.

hes right... i worked at a chevy dealership at the time and saw many of these... they have a special edition badge on the trunk and they were listed on GM's website as special edition cavaliers . they were not just dealer rice... they were GM rice

Expensive as hell is an understatment. I just called the parts department and told tehm were to go sure @!#$, they found it. 100.00 per peice. I need 6 peices. You do the math. 600.00 friggen dollers. You gotta be nuts.

agreed, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but as far as the "special edition" theres nothing special about it. they threw on left over sunfire spoilers, and some 10x overpriced vinyl, and an extra badge. nothing special about that. i could see if there was like a better suspension, or something, anything different about it, but like i said before, its like the "RS" you see driving around. throwing a decal that says "rally sport" dosent make the car any different. just a way to get more money out of a cheap car

As far as getting the stripes, just get them from a sign shop. Should not cost more than 100 bucks if you install it yourself.

Actually, I remember seeing those cars on the Chevrolet website about a year ago. It was the special edition Cavy but I can't remember what all was added on.

there is no special edition cav. they may call it that but all the did wad throw on left over spoliers and stripes thats all. other than that, nothing changed to make it "speical"

Its correct name was "Spring Special". Please don't ask me why I have no clue. From what I was told by my manager it was done in an attempt to clear out all the remaining '04 Cavaliers prior to the '05 model year. It was G.M.'s hope to get rid of all Cavy's before '05 so they wouldn't have any '05's but even with all the rebates and the
"spring special" they couldn't move them fast enough so they sold the remaining cars as '05's. It kinda makes sense, G.M. wanted to introduce the Cobalt as the new for '05 car and they couldn't do that with any Cavaliers still selling as new.

The complete package was the stripes, the spoiler, the badging, and door sill plates.

not that it really matters, but theres a guy here in ashland (oh) i think he goes to the university...hes got one, virginia plates (fatmatt) anybody know of him

but yea, i dont agree with the whole dealer/GM "special editions"
its just an excuse to make more money

personally i thinnk the stripes dont fit our cars at all!! plus thats way 2 much 2 pay for a spoiler, stripes, door sills and badges lol!!

if ne one cares i have seen 1 for sale in shelby (oh) a white 4dr with black stripes!!
