they make see-thru hoods for our cars.....or at least they used to. i don't have anything to show off yet so i never really looked into them. can't even remember where i saw them. either way, if you try it, good luck man. if you buy one, hope you like it and show pics with either decision.

They made the clear euro hoods back in the mid-90's and they were deemed non-DOT complient. They are very flexible and are prone to spider cracks. They also were known to break free of hood pins and still open while driving.
Best thing I would suggest is putting a LEXAN (shatter-proof glass) "window" in a steel or fiberglass good and riveting it all around the edges.
