I am thinking about putting some lambos on the cav. There is a local guy selling a set of 45* hinges for pretty cheap. Anyone have lambos that might give me a reason why NOT to buy them? How is the fitment with body lines? Anyone have some pics they could shoot me??? Thanks!!
I like the idea but I am concerned about fitment. I dont want my car to look retarded.
i had them on my car for about 2 years and i hated them because they are hard to close the door and water gets inside the car when you high pressure wash but on the other hand they do set off the car i got a lot of positive feed back from them from car shows and when i was out but it is your personal preference on what you like but i say no

i use to have them on my car. i liked them, they were a little tough to close in the summer if you opened them up instead of normally. i liked that i could easily get into my car even when someone parked close to me because they could swing up. i never had a problem with water getting in that i can recall, but my shocks went and i never replaced them. they were getting to be more of a hassle than they were worth. i wouldn't do them again personally.
Does the door still open up all the way like it did from the factory?
they can look nice...but no matter what kit you get they only shut right if you know how to shut them...so if you carry alot of different people in you car (besides like you and your girl) then be prepared to hear ALOT of smacking..also if you are tubby it makes it hard ot get in

lol well I dont think i will have a problem then. Do you have to open the doors up everytime or will the door still open up like it originally did?
They open up about half as far as the door will with normal hinges. If the cars a daily driver I say no to having them. Like said above there a pain to deal with on a daily basis. I had a set on my car for about 6 months until a shock broke and the door came slamming down on the ground

. Now that my car doesnt really get driven and is just a show car, i've contemplated putting a set back on.
Well mine is more of a weekend cruiser. I drive my truck and my chevelle too in the summer. Im going for that show and go look. There is a guy selling them locally for 130 bucks with 3 shocks. Thinking about picking them up. How is the fitment? Any problems with lining up body lines?
my set of lambos fit very well, the alignment was great, no leaks, etc. only problem is that after time the hinge will sag slightly from the weight of the door, so you need to adjust it slightly or it wont hit your door latch properly.
I had mine on a daily driver which was sometimes a pain, if i were to use them again i would probably only put them on a none DD.
what degree hinges were you running?
i like mines there 45* and have not given me any problems and i DD my car. i love being able to get out in small spaces lol. you can avoid sag by getting better weighted struts for the hinges mines are 740 lbs. what is a big concern is how to shut them as stated before if you carry friends then i suggest shutting the doors for them lol. learned that one the hard way haha. other then that there a nice little addition IMO.

These hinges im looking at come with 750lb shocks. So youre telling me that maybe your friends were a little rough on your doors or they just couldnt get them closed period?

My fitment wasn't too bad. It leaked a little on the front side of the door, but a little adjustment and black weatherstripping fixed that. They are nice for show, but as said by everyone else, be aware of other people shutting your doors. After a couple paint retouches, I can attest to how much that sucks!

Well personally i think im going to put them on. Im buying the hinges and shocks off a guy here locally for 120 bucks. The way I look at it is if i dont like them...im only out 120 bucks.
i always wanted to do lambos on my drop top, not sure how that would work though, i agree they're a little played out though, what about old style suicides?
91 all white drop top. Need parts!!!

people think you have to close it a certian way and lift up a little or push down a little and then SMACK slams into the door striker. when we had them it was step back and push it hard enough and DON"T FOLLOW THROUGH.

Are these things that much of a pain in the @$$ that you have to have a special technique in closing the door? Because im not wanting something that is half @$$ed or something. If thats the case ill just leave my stock hinges on there because they work just fine.
once you get used to it then no not really...but i would carry around other people in my car from time to time or little kids thought it was cool to put them in the air. there was actualy dents on the inner part of the door from it smacking the striker so much

Probably because they didnt have the door out when they brought it down right? Because doesnt the door open up a little to clear the striker then coming up?
