Hey guys. Just a quick question. Is there a o ring gasket that is suppose to go the filter cap. Its my first oil change, I just picked the car up last week. Thanks

2003 Cavalier 2dr. 5spd
Yes. There is an o ring on the cap. A new o ring should come with the new oil filter.
Silly story. I changed the oil Sunday and filled it to the top. Oil level perfect, start the car, check again, everything good like every other car I changed the oil for. Check the oil level Monday, dipstick shows one notch above max. Weird.
Today I changed the oil filter again, to balance out the oil if it were for some reason overfilled. Check the oil level, right were it should be.
Check the oil again 10 min later to be sure, oil reads a notch above max again. WTF.
So, I drain 1/4 Litre of oil. Still reads a notch above max, so I drain almost a litre total, now oil reads one notch above min. LOL. jeeze
On a side note, I used castol syntec synthetic, the litre I drained today was filthy as hell, and its only been like 40 miles of driving. The last owener said he used mobil one and has done regular maintenance on the car. BS, I say

I add oil in your car when you are not looking]:->
Oh you know what? Try this:
When you read the oil stick, dip it in, pull it out, then flip it over. Look at where the oil line is on the back side, and then trace that back to the other side and see where it is. You might have better luck with it that way.
That sounds kinda dirty doesn't it...

D Simoes, I hope you eat sh*t! I drained some of that oil you added on Tuesday you bastard. I thought you were kidding, than I saw that you are from Canada too eh. ha ha
I knew about the flip it over trick suntuner, it was still reading above. Not sure what happen last week. Oil is fine now tho, hasn't moved on me since Tuesday night, so I think I'm in the clear, lol. I don't think the guy before changed it that often, I think there was some sludge build up or something, the oil got dirty in no time. Maybe all the dirt that came off the engine added to the oil level, lol. I might drop the pan and see if there is any sludge to clean out of there. On another note, this car pulls really hard compared to my 2.0 Sunbird. Not too shab

omg, this @!#$ is win!
I found where he lived and added oil now that he got the level right, THAT would be an ultimate win
Meant to say IF I found.... lol
I bought a viper pager alarm for the car, just in case IF... lol, actually, an alarm ain't so bad of an idea
