I took my 03 Sunfire to a friend's garage to get my serpentine belt, but they didn't leave much room to get any tools in there to take it out. What the best way to do this job? We tried to go from undernieth but there's no room from there either, lol. Is there a certain tool I need to get down in there to loosen the tensioner? How do I get the new one on once the old one is off being that there is almost no room to manuver in there?
PS - Where can I get a cheap service manual for my car, or at least for a decent price? Last I checked it was $120 from GM. Yikes...

You need a serpentine belt tool. Its got a few flat metal bars that you connect together with shallow sockets and it will fit in at the top of the engine

Service manual... check Ebay.
I dunno the Ecotec belt tensioner... but the 2.4L is tight too... you can fit a 15mm wrench on it tho. It's easier from the wheel well, if you remove the plastic in the well itself. Dunno if that would work on the Ecotec tho.

Super easy, I did it on the side of the road for a guy once.
1. Jack up the car and remove the passenger front rim
2. Remove the fender linner and all clips holding it on the car
3. locate the tensioner (gonna be on your back for this), it should have a square hole the size of a wratchet end (or use the serpentine belt tool0 and give the tensioner a tug down to relese the belt.
4. install belt and put fenderwell and rim back on.
took me about 20 min in 90 degree weather on a hot car.
