my brothers '03 cavy is stuck on blowing out of the top vents, it wont switch to the bottom or anything else. the nob is fine, i checked it

you can hear a rattle/vibration, so i believe that whatever switches between the top vents and floor vents is broken

how do i get to whatever this is? and does anybody know what i might need to get?

i heard that it's got something to do with the linkage binding up. I think i read on here that others have teh same trouble from '03 and up only.
