Well wont i mess up the new lifters if i put tthem on a old cam? I have 247xxxkm on my car i know the engine is going to die one day but i want to make it last another yr..Also whats involved with changing the lifters? taking the hyead off and such? I have a new set of pushrods and roller rockers to go in ..maybe that will help and they are just out of adjustment?..phil
I`m not sure on those engines but on the 2.4L the head doesnt have to come off to change them. on the LD9 its in the 6 hour labour range so if you dont do it yourself your looking at a serious bill.

Yes officer I knew the speed limit was 50
on the OHV the lifters are in the block so you have to take the head off. The stock lifters are self-adjusting so putting on new ones and adjusting them won't help. At 150,000 miles, its best just to get a rebuild or to find a lower mileage junkyard engine, because if you go installing a few parts as a band aid fix, you'll still have other warn out parts waiting to go, and then the new parts are ruined by wearing to the wear patterns on the old parts.
