rebuilt engine

does anyone konw a good place to get a rebuilt engine? I put a turbo in my 99 2.4 cavi and it had an oil leak. While I was gone visiting some family members one of my roommates borrowed my car and it was to low on oil. Noe the No. 1 rod bearing is knocking and all the shops in town say I need a whole new motor. Where's a good place to get one thats not too expensive?

You can always call Gm and get a crate engine built

Also Jbodyperformance.com sells already built engine's if you like. Im building a 99 2.4 motor right now in my garage lol. You could always go that route.

Whichever is cheaper might not be the best place to start out when looking for a new reliable motor bud

I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.

Agreed.

If I were you, engine workings should be more of a local thing because it becomes a hassle for you to ship a motor or motor parts. I would find a local engine shop that does good work for a reasonable price. Me personally, I know an Engine Rebuilders shop by me that does NOTHING but engine work and that's it. They do a great job, they do it fast and for a good price.

Also, when it comes to engine work, you have do ALOT of shopping around for parts and find out what will work good for you and you can't settle for certain things. If you can't find a local shop that will do it for a reasonable price, find shops all around that will ship you a built motor. I was actually at one point going to have a rebuilt bottom end shipped to me and have it installed at the shop by my house for a good price.

Basically, find the best way can get it done but not the cheapest.

Only problem is... I live in a redneck town. There are about three engine rebuilding shops in town but none of them want to touch a EFI 4 cylinder. They only work on older chevy motors, and carbuerated pinto motors for mini-mod. They all said I need to just order a new or rebuilt motor. In the mean time I think I'll hang on to my old one and rebuild that one up with performance parts myself. I was just wondering where I can get one that will last a while, no performance upgrades or anything. I can't afford to have our chevy dealer put a brand new one in for 5500 right now, and they wont work with rebuilts cuz they've been screwed over quality wise before.

That sucks bro.

Ok, I'm gonna give you this number...it's for Hyspy Motorsports, either Ryne or Linda will answer. They are located in Illinois and they will do what you want for a reasonable price and have it shipped out to you.

Best thing for you to do is find someone who is selling an 2.4 motor for cheap, buy it, have it shipped out to them to rebuild it and do the motor work. Just mainly talk to them and make sure everything sounds reasonable as in prices, etc.

Here is the #: 1-815-455-6800

Let me know what they tell you. If they ask how you found out about them tell them "I got the number from Adam from New Jersey who bought a Patriot Performance Head of you guys a while back"...if you're talking to Ryne he will DEFENITLEY know who I am, Linda might remember.

Good luck.

thanks alot man. the problem is, I can't afford the whole rebuild right now. I am gonna get a cheap motor to drive on, and keep my old motor and have someone, maybe hypsy motorsports, rebuild it. I dont have the money right now because I'm going to college. I got a good job but living in a big off campus house with some buddies isnt cheap. So I'm gonna cut back on partying and what not. Put the used motor in and save up to have my motor rebuilt. I hope to have it worked on this summer. So I'll hang on to that number for now. Thanks for all the help,
Rex

Yeah I understand bro, money doesn't grow on trees

Well all I'm saying is call and shop around now so when the time is right you don't have to rush around looking for a place to do your work and make a bad choice because you rushed. Just give them a call, let them know what your ideas are and see if they can do it, if not then you can look elsewhere...process of elimination.

Good Luck.
