Evening the exhaust flow

here's a few pics of the rear section the exhaust set-up on my car:

In front of that is is a pacesetter header, Highflow cat, 16 inch res and 2.25 compression bent pipes. The pipes from the muffler to the tips are 2 inch in diameter.

Well, I have a "slight" flow problem... I have gone through 4 1/2 tanks of gas and a bottle of STP fuel injection cleaner since I cleaned the tips last, and here are what the tips look like:

DRIVER SIDE TIP

PASSENGER SIDE TIP

So, here's what I'm wondering... Would replacing that 2 inch cross pipe with a 1.75 inch pipe cause enough restriction too even the flow, yet not hurt performance? Also, what's the most a pipe can be expanded at the end? I ask because that tip has a 2.25" inlet

this could be interesting. Air likes to take the path of least resistance so there's something causing the passenger's side took darker.

It's natural though for the inside to be a little black from the exhaust. so maybe someone else wll have something better to say.

That is the same set up as the old Rksport exhuast. May be the drivers side may be blocked i don't know.

By using a smaller diameter pipe on the pass. side it should increase the velocity going through the pass. side tip. creating less time for the carbon do deposit itself on the tip. If you look at a stock Sunfire GT rear section the pass side pipe is smaller than the drivers side to create an even flow through both pipes.

^^^What he said. I had the same problem with my old dual setup. The passenger side tip was always darker than the driver side because the exhaust flow was uneven.
