Here lately my exhuast has been rattling and honestly dosn't sound good at all....I've got a lower engine moutn but when i pop the hood i can still see the engine moving some. I have a pacesetter ceramic coated header, high flow cat, and a 25" resonator....if i get the upper enigne mount which would keep the engine completey still would that stop my rattling? thanx.
Possibly the upper could help but have you checked your exhaust hangers? What about the flanges? are they all tight? It might have nothing to do with the motor moving a little bit...

Jack of all trades.
i'm just pretty sure the exhaust is rattling up against the underneathe of the car, i've got a custom catback which means that it isn't perfect...i looked under the car and noticed the exhaust moving quite a bit due to the vibrations in the engine bay therefore leading me to believe this.
you might need another hanger somewhere in there. I know I needed one when mine rattled all the time.
check to see the clearance of the exhaust underneath the car.
though what i'm saying, is typically when the engine is at idle it is shaking and typically more where i have an auto. it pretty much quits rattling after i accel and the engine stiffens up due to the load. So what i'm saying is if i stop the vibes at idel it should stop the rattle when i take off.
anybody have any other suggestions or should the upper motor mount fix it somewhat?
i have the upper mount. didn't help at all.
but my exhast is premade so its either a hit or miss on it being a perfect fit

what did you do to keep your exhaust from ratteling?
I'd say don't blame the engine movement or the motor mounts. Take it back to your shop and have them fix their "custom" exhaust. I've had to replace every gasket on my exhaust system and they replaced it and welded it so it wouldn't fall off, no charge.

i figured there was only one gasket man and that was the header gasket.

It depends but you usually have more 1 other gasket. It depends on how they designed your cat-back, how many bends they made, if they used a bunch of piping and welded it together or took one long piping and used it.
I can tell you that the gasket that was between my catalytic converter and cat-back piping came loose and the gasket that went from the single pipe to the y-pipe came loose (remember, I have duals).

well see all my piping is weleded together man i don't have any flanges...i hav ethe high flow cat and its weleded on all together.

Ok that's cool but I was just giving the gasket issue as an example. You more than like have a hanger issue.

i have two hangers and they are mainly towards the back, where should another one be added?

I would ask the shop that question

i ordred the rk upper moutn becuase i feel like i need it anyways i'm going to wait and see how this does....typically after the car launched and the engine is still the exhaust dosn't rattle anymore its only at low rpms when the engine is likely to be moving more so i'm going to see what this will do.....

nothing. sometimes it rattles. sometimes it dont

I believe the upper engine mount is needed anyways for safety...i will jack the car up tomorrow and see if i can tell where the noise is mainly coming fromt it could be from my ball joint of my pacesetter header....btw can you tighted that ball joint up from the top or do you have to do it from the bottom?
I think i might have found my exhaust problem....form my high flow cat to my resonator the exhaust shop used the stock piping...i bleieve this could be causing the exhaust to sound bad...possibly could i need a new resonator i've got a 25" thrush glass pack and could it be wearing out, thank you.
I thought the problem was the exhaust rattling?? What would the stock piping or your resonator have to do with the pipes rattling against something?? And how does the upper motor mount increase your cars safety??
The Ball joint depends on how small your hands & tools are... if you can get in there from the top have at er... if not then I would assume you need to do it from the bottom...

the upper motor mount is for safety sake to keep the header from cracking...the rattle that i thoguth was rattling against something was actually the rattle from inside my resonator due to the resonator wearing out after a years time. the glass packs break down from what i understand so this was causing the rattle...getting it fixed tomorrow.

I've had something like that happen to me. My old Flowmasters mufflers, one of the mufflers had something break inside of it and made a high pitched ringing noise that drove me crazy. I decided to switch to Magnaflow...haven't looked back since

well the reason i think it is the resonator is it pops alot more than it use to when i let up off teh gas, and sounds rattley and raspy....so tomorrow goes on the new resonator.
my exhaust rattling is from the rear heat shield just before the rear axle so its gone now and no more rattling
