Upper Engine Mount Ecotec

I was wondering if anyone could give me a pretty detailed set of instructions for installing the upper mount on an eco. I saw the post in the eco build plan but the directions were for a z not an eco.

An eco is an eco, Z24 or not. Instructions are the same.

Takes about 15-20 minutes to do it.

1. Jack up and support engine with a wood block on a jack.

2. remove the coolant tubes for the reservoir.

3. move reservoir out of your way a little(1 Bolt)to remove.

4. remove the 4 - 5 bolts that hold on the stock mount on.

5. remove stock mount and install RK upper mount easily slide it in.

6. put all the stuff back together.

7. Remove jack and block of wood.

8. Start car and enjoy the vibes you get.

9. Check dash for additional screeches and stuff you never notices before.

10. Turn on AC and experience the turbo shake of the chassis on the J.

11. Be safe...ask someone for help if more is needed.

12. Ignore steps 8 - 11.... .

The ecotec mount is super easy. You don't neet to remove the coolant resevoir.

Support engine from the bottom.
5 15mm nuts.
Pull mount out.

I had to remove the resevoir top get the mount in and out... if I had about a 1/2 inch more I would have been fine.

Crystal: only the 2200 & 2.4's have an insert, and you have to take apart the upper mount to add in the insert. This can be done in the car, but is easier out of the car. The upper engione mount on the Eco is a complete replacement.

it is a 2.4.

Just make sure you support the engine well from underneath. I did the upper mount on my buddy's ECO and it ended up taking a lot longer than it needed to. Even though I did support the engine, it still shifted and we had a hell of a time getting it back into place to get the mount bolts lined back up.

Probably what I did wrong, looking back on it, was just using stacked blocks of wood where I shoul dhave used a jack. (Although the jack we had would not fit under the car due to his body kit.

Anyway, moral of the story, support the engine. This job is actually quite simple.

#5, could also use the Turbo Tech Racing insert as well. Same thing and comes in MANY different colors.

i love the new vibes....wen i start the car my dash shakes...feels like i just turned the key to a muscle car....i love it........

and u dont need to support the engine....just pull the bolts off...move the resevior and slide the mount into place...use liquid soap to help it fit into place

I disagree, if you get lucky then yeah you don't need to support the engine..if you are unlucky, trying to install the mount on an unsupported engine (especially with a stock lower mount) will eat up a lot of time if it shifts while trying to install the new mount.

I think he was referring to the pre ecotec mount.
