I noticed a lot of people asking what engines will fit in a 2.2l sunfire, but i didn't see anyone mention the 2.0l supercharged redline engine. Would that fit at all? i think the regular 2.2 ion engine is the same as the one in the cavy and sunfire. only reason i ask is cause im thinkin about driving my sunfire again cause i can't sell it with 166,000 or so miles on it (even though it still runs good). But i don't want to have the slow ass 2.2l 3 speed anymore.
I think it would fit, might be some mounting issues that need to be worked out, but I'm pretty sure it would fit, it may have even been done before.
Go Premium, it builds character!
better off with a 2.2L Ecotec, the wiring for the LSJ is a nightmare (Drive by wire throttle for starters), the 2.4L LD9 TwinCam is a good option, and probably better being the year of your car. There's tons of support for the LD9, and like said before, probably a better option than the ECOTEC, which would require tons of wiring, and new gauge cluster to match the 02+ BCM etc.
all the cobalts are drive by wire , also their trans has different brackets than the j-body trans
keep the 2.2 or upgrade to 2200
they make a decent racer with care and love... plus there as durable and dependant as hell..
