i went to the track last week for my first time and want too happy bout the times. and now im determined to build a motor and drop in to get the times dows to the 13's. so my q is how much would it cost at a j-yard for a 2200 and an ecotec. i know an eco tech would be a better platform to make power, but i like to be an underdog. thanx
You can search car-parts.com Vin4 for the 2200 and VinF for eco, or call up a local junkyard. I was quoted 400 from a recent yard for a 2200 with 40k miles, and 450 from another yard same mileage. It all depends on where you look because you can definitely find cheaper than that. Another good source is wrecked cars, especially if theyve been in rear or side collisions and not front. I tend to stay away from front end crashed cars because the subrame and engine bay crunches up really nice against the block, seen a few cracked blocks after the engine was removed at the yard..

call around and ask. we cant tell you what a yard in your area may charge

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
IF your planning on building it up go for it. I wish i had a spare to build prior to toasting my factory ln-2. Now i'm sporting the quart every 2-3 day junk yard special, and I-m building the origional motor. lol The Ln-2 has potential you just have to know where to kick it in the nuts. If you havent already look for and search for posts from Mad Jack, notec and some that i cant think of right now and you will pick up quite a bit of knowladge.
what are you plans with the motor? I did the bolt on with juice route adn now am currently working to the built motor route with boost.
