2.2l Intake problem ASAP
Tuesday, June 27, 2006 5:04 PM
I have gutted out the entire intake on the 01 cavalier. BUT theres still that stupid air box under the batter and next to the front wheel. I have taken the wheel off but I dont know how the get the stupid thing off. I am considering cutting my intake tube so I can just mount it without having to go under the car everytime i wanna clean the damn thing. SO....any suggestions? Is it a good idea to cut my pipe or how the @!#$ do i get that last air box out? PLEASE HELP ASAP

grab onto it and pull...HARD. dont jerk it, but give a very strong, steady pull. or...you could take out the washer fluid bottle, whick the lower intake is mounted to, and seperate them. also...you might try prying between them with a large screw driver...it is hard to do but they do come apart.

Or you could be mildly smart and remove the 4 other bolts that hold the lower part in.

I got it out...I took off my wheel. Unscrewed all the undercarage @!#$. and then i had to pull. and it finally popped out. BUT....I found the problem and that is...the company I bought my intake from are @!#$ retards and I got ripped off. The intake goes under the battery behind the left wheel. Well, its supposed to. My intake dropped down into the now empty hole, where it is to be met by another smaller macoroni lookin tube. BUT, theres no elbow to connect my intake tube to my filter tube, it needs a 90 degree drop into the whole. 2nd there is no way in hell i can bolt the macaronia tube in the stock position because the hardware isnt long enough. SO to solve my problem, I measured the intake tube. Marked it, and then cut it. I then placed my new air filter onto that, and whabamn! Easy access to my intake. . . So what if i cheated a little. Its getting late and I'm exhausted. Thanks for your help
