2200 Wont Start
Tuesday, October 10, 2006 7:16 AM
Ok... After a long long experience from Nitrous, I rebuilt my engine. It is bolted in and hooked up correctly, but it wont start. It has new piston rings, pistons, and block was honed/everything else cleaned. It rolls over and "put put" sometimes but does not start. I have triple checked the plug wires, firing order. I am not throwing any codes whenever I attempt to start it. The spark plugs smell like they are gettin fuel, so what else can I look for?? Thanks in advance.

How do I go about checkin the valvetrain timing?? I just picked up a compression tester, Im fixin to go check that. When we assembled the engine, we made sure it was in time. But believe me I am up for any suggestions.

Hi kids, do you like 5 inch exhaust tips?,
Wanna see me stick chrome fender flares over each one of my Konigs? Wanna
follow me and do exactly as I did? Try NAWS and get your motor F***** up
worse then my life is? My brain's dead weight, I'm trying to get my head
straight, but I an't figure out which sticker to put over my license plate.
And the mechanic says "Rice Burner you's a crack head "Nu-uh" "Then why's
your car dead man its wasted " Well since age 9 I've wanted an SI so I could
put chrome 18's on it and make it run 16.9's. Got pissed off and ripped all
my honda emblems off, And replaced them with "R" badges so people know Im
not soft. I smoke a big bowl of chron, and lay in my lawn, for longer then
it took me to put my altezzas on. "Come here bastard" "Dude , wait a minute
thats a Viper dawg!!" I don't give a F***, i'll just fly by and put my
hazards on!

Yes we set it at top dead center. It sounds like it is tryin to start, but it keeps foulin the plugs out. We put STP oil treatment on the cylinders walls, so I believe that is foulin the plugs out. Whenever tryin to start it, black smoke pours out the exhaust.

does it back fire at all? after i built my 2200, i couldn't get it to start. it attempted but wouldn't, and often would back fire. it was just like the timing was off 180*. sure enough, i popped the timing chain cover back off, and the cam sproket was off one tooth.

Is there an easy way to check timining?? If i have to pull this motor agin it will suck. I have been through hell and high water with this damn thing. How could it have jumped time?? Thanks for the help.

You can go through the passenger side wheel well. Remove the RF tire and the plastic liner you can access the timing chain cover from there. You still need to remove the belt and a few other things, but you don't need to pull the engine.

Ok. Engine is in time. It appears as though the spark is out of time. I replaced the crankshaft position sensor when i built the engine, so i think i got a defective one from autozone... Is this a possiblity?? I have a friend that works there and I get to swap out my sensor for another one, so i will and see the after effect... Thanks for the help guys and keep it comin.
