Cobalt SS to 2000 sunfire?
Saturday, November 25, 2006 2:24 PM
This is a question that I have pondered with for quite some time and now that I've found one I need to know if it is possible, will a ss engine fit where my tired old 2200 now sits, I found one within pickup range and if any knows the answer to this question, a reponse would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It's been covered many, many, many times... if you search you'd have found the answer by now...

But the bottom line is... no one's done it yet. The 2.0L supercharged motor is drive-by-wire... so you'd basically have to swap everything on the car to make it work, or customize a lot of stuff.

Plus, the trans that comes with it is huge... won't fit in the J-body frame w/o cutting out part of the strut tower. So you'd have to custom do a trans as well.

Cost is usually the deciding factor on people NOT bothering. A regular Ecotec will swap in easily, and can be boosted (supercharged OR turbo) for less than the custom work to make the 2.0sc fit would be...

Yes I know that I'm an idiot for not searching first, but I've never really thought of doing it until yesterday when a friend of my drops me an email and says"guess what I've found". So if there is alot of fabbing and a trans to deal with then I guess i'll be going with the 05 sunfire Eco I've found, real nice only has five k on it.

thanks for the info, even though you guys were hatin' on me
