Could weld up a box cover and use some sort of gasket to keep the water out.

Other option would be to relocate it inside the engine bay, that way you shouldn't have to cut/splice any wires (and if you do, it wouldn't be that much)

yea that would be a better idea i wonder where i could mount it in there???? im trying to think of a good place there just realy isnt all that much free space im guessing a box would be my best bet, but thats also hard becuase the evap box is right there to i would have to cover it with the case??? is there even a purpose 4 the evap box im all about weight reduction !! lol

The computer is in an underhood case, to protect it from weather.

No, the ECU is meant to be able to get wet. There are gaskets surrounding the connectors that prevent water from getting into the contacts. The only problem with long term water exposure is corrosion, which is why GM added that rubber shield. The ECU itself is very waterproof.

I can tell you that the pcm is protected against water, I can also tell you that to mod it for emulation means cutting open the casing, the biggest problem here is sealing it back up for under fender. Mind you this is in the 95, but i think the 97 is in the same place, just a different pcm.

We relocated out ecu to under the passenger seat, it works great but you cant just crimp connect wires. We had tried soldier, and eventually built extension connectors from sacrificed harneses and a pcm, but its not easy.

Your best bet if your having problems with electrical is to get under the hood with a multi-meter and check all your wiring, there's what 30+ wires, the problem could be something as simple as a fuel injector shorting out, or as bad as a pcm, but usually your pcm wont just go bad.

Pardon me for being mistaken. But when the ECU shorts to ground it opens the injector. So if injectors were shorting, they'd stick open all the time, would they not?

No fuel AND no spark? I'd look at possibly a Crank position sensor. If the crank sensor is dead, it's not going to make any sparks. And the ECU wont know when to fire fuel injectors.

^^^^^i was also wondering why soldering didn't work?
i want to relocate my ecu and put it under the passager side dash so when i'll use the APU1, i will be able to let the ecu partiallly open.
I was gonna go to junkyard and pull a 95 harness (plugs that goes on ecu with some wiring, not whole harness) and just get enough wire to get the computer inside the car...
