CEL with Magnaflow Cat

My ignition module went on my '05 ecotec last week, and from running on only two cylinders to get it to the dealership (still under warranty), all the extra fuel has since ruined my catalytic converter. However GM wont replace it now cause i have an aftermarket exhaust on my car and it is welded up right after my cat, meaning no more flange.

Since GM wants $650 CAD for a new cat ive decided to just get the Magnaflow (part #94035) unit.

Now my CEL is on, which im told is due to my faulty cat.

My question is.....

If i get the Magnaflow cat and get the CEL cleared, will it come back on because it is an aftermarket cat?? or will it be fine?

Has anyone had their CEL come on due to an aftermarket catalytic converter??

Thanks in advance.

it might come back , mine comes and goes

mostly due to gas additives , some stations will cause it to come on , others dont

i usually hit the circle k which is the station near me that keeps the cel from coming on in my cav and a friends cav
