Ive read plenty of past post about the 086 head swap but, Im more comfortable with upgrading the LD9 head so....
Which would be best:
1) Stock (but new) OE keepers & retainers, MantaPart stiffer springs, SS valves (1mm over bore), p&p'ed, Secret Cams
2) HO springs, retainers, keepers, SS valves (1mm over bore), p&p'ed, Secret Cams
I have a 99 Auto z24 w/ basic bolt-ons
Which option sounds best...
(please add on or correct me if you feel needed)
Thanks to everyone in advance!!!

I personally like the second, but I will probably do the first.

You aren't going to be reving past 8000 rpms with your auto, so they are both pretty much the same end result. #2 is going to be cheaper, and you will probably be waiting a while to recieve parts from Mantapart.
Also, secret cams don't require stiffer springs.

"Youth in Asia"...I don't see anything wrong with that.
stay away from mantapart. people dont get parts on time or at all

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
Okay, my first thought was with the #2 option but I spoke with some very undisputed JBOeons and they say that if I use the HO setup, my engine wont create enough power to use the valves (making it harder to open/close).
And I do realize that I dont need the HO springs/stiffer springs for Secret Cams, however... in the Secret cam sticky, its discussed to get better springs for more performance and to prevent valve float.

LOL...It's not like they are springs for 15000 RPM Indy cars. There are plenty of people with that setup who run their motors just fine. 99% of 086 hybrid quads have those springs.

You aren't going to have float with secret cams

Once and for all... THe number 2 setup is the best and cheapest route to go?
anymore opinions is greatly welcomed (especially from those who have either/or setup)

I have the HO set up just haven't been able to use it yet.

but in a month or two i will be on my built N/A engine.
Cost me a total of around $360 for the springs retainers and valves. By the way your suppose to use your stock 2.4l keeper with the HO setup.
Okay so its the HO springs, HO retainers, SS valves, Stock LD9 keepers, Secret Cams, p&p
Thanks everyone for the help.
again, anymore insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Id hate to bring this up again but what years do I get the HO springs and retainers from
any HO from 90-94? Berreta GTZ Im assuming right?

I have HO springs (ordered for 91 W41), stock 2.4 retainers, stock 2.4 keepers, Stock valve rotators, and stock size SS valves. using HO cams and have had no problems with the valve train for the past 16,000 miles.
Your suppose to use the 2.3l retainers because stock 2.4l will fit but. 2.3l is the way to go knowing the will cover the springs 100% where the 2.4l don't cover the springs 100%.
Yes i know this for a fact because i have tryed it.
