would new rocker arms valves and springs give me any more hp? just wondering cause i was thinking about installing them also how much more hp do you get from the jtuners 2.2 competition head?
Aftermarket valvesprings lower horsepower output. Also, JTuners has been out of business for a while now. If you want that head, contact Hypsy (ryne.com), but I would suggest the stage 1, as their valvetrain is just a stock replacement.

so if i got new valves and valve springs with rocker arms id go slower? and how much power would i get out of the patriot head?
There's no point in getting aftermarket valvesprings with a stock cam.

how do you replace the cam in are OHV's?
do those engine kits do much on import performance as far as hp or torque goes?
well ive decided that im just gonna crap that idea and drop in teh LD9 its a direct fit right? i also plan on putting in a 5spd along with it
i have the knowledge to do it plus acces to a machine shop because i go to an automotive college where i live and they will do anyhting you want for free as learning oportunities. right next door is the body shop so thats where im gonna have my car painted for free

but do you think its worth the money to do the ld9 swap? isnt it just a swap no modding needed at all
Look in the 3rd Gen forum. You can do a 3400 V6 swap pretty easily too. The 2nd gen guys with a stock 3400 and a slight tune are putting down something like 194-197whp. It's one hell of a nice increase over the 2.2. And I had a lot of crap on my 2.2.

I'm really not trying to be an ass here, but judging by the questions you asked, you definately don't have the knowledge...

But then you have to work on a FWD V6

, something I vowed I would never own again.

i have the knowledge power to learn it

I know the feeling on that. ESPECIALLLY every time I have to do something to my GTP. Routine maintenanace sucks, like spark plugs and wires. I was acutally suprised when I put the 3400 in my Cav, that it actually has to have more room to work on it in the back than it would if it were in a Grand Am. It appears almost like it sits farther forward in the J-body than the N-body. Just the way the Chassis is set up I suppose.
the v-6 swap looks insanley hard to do with all that rewitring
im sticking with the 2.4 ld9 swap doesnt it fit right in with the wiring harness or does that need to be replaced to? what is everything that needs to be repl;aced with the swap?
besides the motor lol
also with all the money i need to put in for the swap could i just as easily upgrade the OHV to run faster than the stock 2.4?
no
1998 Chevrolet Cavalier
5-spd
so how much does this swap generally run then? a grand?

The LD9 will require just as much rewiring. Any engine swap will.

Today must be opposite day...or you're thinking of a swapping in a questionable junkyard special...

so notec you seem to be all for the OHV's where did you get your turbo? i see those turbo kits on ebay for about a grand and i was thinng about buying oneof those instead of doing the swap seeing as i could smoke an ld9 with that

Those "kits" don't include most of the stuff you actually need, and what is included is junk...stay away.
I pulled a T3 turbo from the junkyard, and bought a rebuild kit for it on ebay. Built a manifold (you can actually buy them now, and for a decent price I might add), made some charge pipes and whatnot from junk I had laying around, or found in the junkyard (including the DSM BOV, and my collection of intercoolers). Add in HPTuners and you're good to go for less than that $1000.

lol the thing is i do not know how to weld and i do not have a welder in my garage and the kit does come with everything even a exhaust manifold that fits the turbo the only bad thing i see is it runs at 5lbs but with a little more parts i can get that number higher
Link me to the kit. I have yet to see one in that price range that actually came with a manifold (read the fine print). Most of the turbos won't last long at higher boost (some literally fall apart, most others have shotty seals). All the pipes will be generic bends, you still have to cut fit, and weld them together. You will still have to tap your pan and/or modify your oil fill tube, you will still have to create a mouting system for the intercooler...they aren't really "kits", they are just generic parts thrown together for you to try and make work.

yeah i tought about that and after searching around the net till 4am last night i decided that im gonna peice the kit together since i read that post that tells you what are all the parts needed peicing it together became a little less impossible. i was thinking about going super 60 t3 what do you guys think?
