I live in Buffalo NY and I contacted a local custom radiator shop for a quote on a full aluminum radiator for a cavalier. I got a quote of $400 with a 2.5" core without fan mounts. This is considerably less than the griffin radiators than many people are buying on here! The radiator is about 3/4" thicker than the stock one, but the difference can be made up where ever you would like, towards the engine, towards the front, or split the difference. Im thinking about getting one with my tax return, but I just wanted to get a feeler going and maybe set up a group buy if people are interested, this way the price will go down even lower. When I buy mine I will get some pics posted, but contact me if you are interested. Below is the contact information for the radiator shop if you want to call and get information by yourself!

Thats the prices for the Griffin rad in the group purchase.....I dont see how yours is cheaper.
Are you looking at the price with mounts and fans?
For the same price I personally would rather go with a name like Griffin, since they would have better support no matter where you are at, whereas a local rad shop could only offer support locally. Just my opinion though. Good luck with it.
Easy, I know you, but im not sure if you know me. I also know roz and henny, I have the silver cavalier thats turbo? I saw you at the lancaster shows a couple of time!
The price I listed was for one, I just messaged them to get a price for 5 and 10! And as for fans go, you should buy your own and mount them yourself, because everyones engine set up is different. My fan is infront of my radiator because of my turbo and downpipe. Slim fans work the best and you can buy them at any local auto store!
I'm not flamin on you or anything. I always like to see new products for our cars. I think it is a great idea, but maybe not the best option for someone out in California or something....Griffin is a nation wide company, with lots of distributors....and reputation. I think some pics of these things would help the interest out a good bit. Also is this supporting all factory brackets & mounts? Fans etc?? Just wanting to know.
So what were your prices for 5 or 10 rads?
I dont recall ever meeting you....but then again, I can barely recall what I ate for lunch, and that was 15 minutes ago....
I still havent got a price for the 5 or 10 yet. The original fan mounts can be made for it but I priced it w/o them. The original post mounts on the top and bottom would still be there. This company has made numerous radiators for local custom cars. I will deffinatly post the pics when I get mine, but it might be a while till then.
Also this was for a automatic, I just got the quote for 10 it would fo down to 375. Keep in mind that this radiator is much bigger than the griffin. The end tank are smaller left to right, so there is more finned area to cool better. But I will have to post pics to really start a buzz!
IF you can get a manual one down in a GP to 350, I would drive down cash in hand in a couple months once you get this going to pick one up.
ALSO my decision above is pending pics, and quality, i need to see the core, and welds

i'm buying a VW those people love trees, so they should love eachother too... "Andy"
im sticking with griffin ...good company that made a good product..was 350 (cheaper) and the extra size core to me doesnt seem to be needed.not to mention griffins fits stock location w/ac with no worry for space .. and comes auto or manual for same price...good looking out, but i dont understand why you went shopping for another radiator when we have a GREAT one from griffin?? someone finally steps up and makes a fantastic radiator for our car and you try to undercut them thru another company.....this is how we lose aftermarket support
Its called competition... WITHOUT it companies like JBP and Mantapart happen. I APPLAUD competition.

dont compare mantafart to griffin ..dont even close!! when manta made a part i PRAYED someone else would sell it...when griffin makes something simply thank god..when you get a great product from a great company you should just be thankful cus not manypeople even care about making new parts for our cars
I love comp, so I dont mind it at all. But I have one question. How are you going to accomidate people running this with a/c or other things? The griffin retains all stock mounts and can use a stock fan setup, also a/c stuff, without modifing at all. Also you get that with no extra cost. Not tring to undercut you at all, I promise. Only trying to understand. Thanks.

is the griffen heavier then a stocker?

Wanting a nice set of black 17's with mint tires? Pm me.
its completly aluminum..i dont think theres any differnce in weight at al
well it is thicker than a stocker, but a stocker has plastic ends, so who knows.
i honestly dont see the need if it's not lighter.

THE WEIGHT REALLY ISNT AN ISSUE, I NEED TO COOL 350 HP. THATS WHY I WENT LOOKING AROUND. I LIKE MAKING THINGS FOR MY CAR OR CHALLENGINE OTHER PEOPLE TO MAKE THINGS FOR ME. I MADE MY TURBO MANIFOLD AND IT LOOKS PROFESSIONAL. IM ALSO MAKING MY REAR TIE BAR THIS WEEK, I WILL POST PICS OF THAT. NOTICE I LISTED THIS IN THE PERFORMANCE FORUM, IF PEOPLE STILL HAVE THEIR AC AND ARE TRYING TO ADD PERFORMANCE, THEY CAN START BY REMOVING IT!

well after your 3rd or 4th radiator cracks and starts leaking get back to me on whether you think its not worth it...other than that for guys like me and others we had issues keeping our engines cool and this rad did the trick

Some were asking weight of the Griffin rad. It has a dry weight of about 25lbs.
But the only reason I have made another post in this thread is because of the above comment. Please know that Im not critasizing you or your work. Was only asking a question early. I wish you luck and hope you do very well with this. Im always up for competion. But I will give you a small bit of advice. I wouldnt openly critisize people for there performance choices. It may run off some customers. Some people that need a radiator like the one I offer, are installing them on daily driven cars, and may want to retain ac. Although you can free a little up by lossing your ac, I would leave that option to the customer.
3rd or 4th radiator? thats news to me. ive never even heard of any j radiator's having issues like that... but dont get me wrong, its certainly possible...
ive just never had a problem with that issue nor the issue of keeping things cool, i ran my 97 z once 23 times down the track in one night in 90 degree heat and it never got hot enough to justify needing a better radiator.. which is why i said if its not lighter i cant see needing one. but obviously an autox person would probably need one a whole hell of a lot more so yeah i guess i could see the need.
