Well its not a full build per se, its more of a top end "build" anywho, after a bit of searching and learning and reading, Ive come to the conclusion that Im going to stick with the good ole 2200, and get some fun out of it. My goal for the car is mainly for autox, so instead of spending tons of money on a motor build, Ill spend around $1000, and use the rest for where it really counts, driver's courses and suspension/tires. So on to my plan.....
1.6 ratio roller rockers from Howell Automotive
As far as a camshaft is concerned, Im going to have a custom grind done, but Im a little stuck on which specs I want to go with. I saw some on JBP and the "stage 1" was Duration @ .050*, Valve Lift INTAKE 203*, 469 EXHAUST 208*, 480, would that be efficient enough to get me to my 125-130hp goal? Or should I go with the larger stage 2 specs? I dont really want to change my springs or valves, but if I must I must.
Headwork, Im not going to go to crazy with this, I want to retain the stock valves, so Ill just have the head cleaned up to improve the flow.
Im thinking of purchasing HPT just to see what the heck I can extract from the 2200 with this small amount of mods, but I dont know of any tuners near my area.
Thats about all I had planned any other ideas?

My advise. sell your car save the grand you plan on spending save another grand or two and buy a v-8 f-body.

well imho your advice sucks. I cant stand it when people like you come into threads and ruin them by saying stupid crap like that. Did I ask you if you think I should buy a completely different car? NO! I simply asked what some of the knowledgable people thought of my 2200 "build" Now leave those stupid comments to urself

People like you shouldn't be posting on this forum. The guy came in for advice, and you spew out the arrogant bullcrap.
-A good choices all around, except the cam.. AVOID JBP !, other then that good luck. !
My Cav
I give up...
i'm buying a VW those people love trees, so they should love eachother too... "Andy"
^^^yeah, you can get a REAL custom grind from Comp....and they will help you figure out the specs you need. I still dont think that HPT will get you a return on investment if you are buying it. But if there are tuners in your area that use it, and you are only paying for credits and tune time....it may be more worth your while.
Do you have a manual or auto?
I would recomend putting your name down for the lightened pulley interest GP thats floating around as well.
I would also think about a cometic head gasket that will bump up your compression a bit too....since you are going to have your head off anyways.
Here is something I dug up that might be helpful. This is an old post from PJ & what he did & what power he was putting down as a result. This should give you an idea of where you will be in the scheme of things....
