I think we have not seen what HPT can do on lightly modded cars yet. I feel there is gains to be made. I would first do my research of local shops to see if anyone has HPT (lots of shops do). If you do not know how to tune or feel you are going to go further in modding to learn tuning then it might not be a good idea to get it yourself.

It will optimize what you have now to work best, maybe squeeze out a few horses. But what you have to consider is are you stopping there or modding further? If it is the latter of the two, it may be worthwhile as once you go beyond the basic bolt ons most things either require a tune or would very much benefit from one. So the way I look at it is, why not have the software(and hardware) ready for when you need it, and then every step you take you can tweek.

It worked out quite well on my 02 eco, and I had very similar mods, the car still had pull when I was hitting the rev limit at 6250, once tuned it kept pulling up to about 6500 or so. It was a very nice lil increase according to the butt dyno.

mine has seen great improvements, of course it is an LD9, but similar mods.

a good tune will help make your motor more efficient and make the modifications you do have done work better together.

After that there are cams, which for what they provide the price is very reasonable, and there are things you can do yourself, buy a P&P kit or dremel it there are tons of places on the net with how-to's someone feel free to link one for me if you want. the msd dis-2 pack is around 300 bucks from TTR last i checked, and very important aswell you dont want to skip suspension upgrades too, maybe some better brakes, dont want to have to much go without the extra woah lol (yes i already know im habitually corny). But as people have already said it take cash to go fast. Personally my plans are as follows... I will have in the mail very shortly upper and lower mounts, tranny mount, rear strut bar, bushings, front/rear sway bars, and HPT. Then once thats all paid up and ready to start again im dropping in some wiseco pistons, eagle rods, arp studs, and stage 2 cams. Takes money but if you enjoy it its very rewarding. Anyway done with the mini rant, keep us posted and im sure well all help you out where we can. Really though that sticky up top is great. Some of the part numbers/companies are out of date now but the info is gold.
