what is a good replacement for the stock muffler?

i currently have an after market magnaflow muffler and it is way too loud. I tried to buy a silencer on ebay, but it wouldn't fit (i got the right diameter but the magnaflow muffler get more narrow internally and the silencer was straight, so i returned it). i am looking to get the car quiet because i have been taking some long road trips and i cant take the noise anymore....and i am tired of just turning up the radio. haha. What is a good muffler that will be quiet like stock? unfortunately i dont have the stock muffler that came on the car

ran into this problem a while back, used a cherry bomb as a resonator after the cat and a dynomax super turbo....also upped the piping to 2.25", sounds nice. not loud. but a little throaty which was exactly what i wanted

Have the Dynomax Super-Turbo in the 2" in-out on my '94 2.2L truck w/stock system, and it works well at being quiet yet throaty. It really is a nice sound. I would suggest going the route iKe did, as that's what alotta guys here have done & got great results.

Go beyond the "bolt-on".
