I have been searching ..... does anyone know where to buy a new bare block for a 00 2200?
New Blocks....like NEW ones were discontinued from GM, but you can still buy an assembled motor for $16xx = shipping.....you might find a dealer somewhere that still has one.
Why do you want NEW??
Well, I want to rebuild a new engine. All I need is the block, no head, no internals, no oil pan, no accessories! Do you know anyone on here with an extra with good journals?
YOU GOT ONE? FOR SALE? Has it been milled and machined? It also has good journals? You willing to sell it? I am planning on getting it honed, degreased and such on my own! GOT PICS! Im excited now!
Are any of the tapped holes stripped? Head stud holes, oil pan bolt holes, sensor mounting holes ..... so on?
I do have to say you are a bit of a hike away.
Eveything is good on it, but it is still mostly assembled/re-assembled. No stripped holes or anything. Not much has been done to this one in the way of machining, just taken apart for some measuring on it, and some light re-assembly.
Would you be willing to sell it? I would pay full shipping!
sell yes....ship not so much. Crating & such is not something I have much time for now.
Do you have a "UPS Store" by you, you can drop it off and they will package it and ship it!
I am fairly sure that is out of the range of things my UPS store can handle....
If there is a Pak Mail near by, they will ship anything, and I mean ANYTHING, lol.
Uh, not sure if it matters but I'll be swapping engine & trans in my '99 Sonoma relatively soon (Has 115,000mi. & needs chain set. Same engine, just different manifolds), so if you want to use that & are willing to get it machined (Doesn't really seem necessary since they wear like small-block Chevy V-8s) I'll sell it to you for cheap ($100-$150).
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
You can pull complete motors from the junkyard for less than shipping lol.
fortune cookie say: better a delay than a disaster
agreed.
The bigger problem with the 2200, is hole #1 goes out of round faster than the other holes. So unless you have an engine with 10k or less, plan on having it punched, not just honed.
