An oil additive that binds ceramic to hot engine parts to reduce friction & harmonics. It was 7 years in making & 5 years in real world testing - now it is at a University in the good ole U.S.A. for hard facts. BTW they claim to bind ceramic at a 2 micron depth at the intergranual level.
I think Indy car engine cylinders are sleaved with cermaic.......
Here's the link to the company.

Here's the myspace video of it by some redneck sounding dude.

if you can't follow the link do a search for Cermax under the video section.
& no this is not an ad. I'm just looking for comments or thoughts on this. I can't find anything bad about this stuff on the internet.
Thanx,

Interesting
I wanna hear what the university has to say about this stuff
I'll give it a shot... how do I get my hands on some??

Just be aware that I don't use this stuff, I just run amsoil. The link is in the first post to the company.
I was just putting this out there to see what people had to say. I thought this was completely Diff then any other oil additive claim.
Peace

Now that I've read up on bobtheoilguy.com forums a bit... this Cermatech stuff is certified crap... does nothing. Just like Slick 50 and Dura Lube did nothing...
Apparently the only good one is this product called Auto-Rx. I might give it a shot...?

I don't know how you can say that, because I just looked it up & there are a lot of positive posts on bobtheoilguy.com about it.
Anyway, best to see the test data I suppose.
Here is a quote of many on that board,

"Anybody tried this stuff?"
Yes and right up front let me say that "your results may vary."
I've had it in my chipped 2000 1.8T for about 1,200 miles now. Within 300 miles the cold start / running problems I have been having went away completely. When I would come up to a stop and try to go again, as the engine was in it's morning wake up cycle, the throttle was very unresponsive. You'd step on the accelerator and you'd actually go slower. It was very annoying, and unsafe dealing with traffic until the engine warmed up a bit. Now it just drives like any other car, maybe better because it seems to operate just as well cold as when up to normal operating temperature.
The other big benefit I've gained from Cermax is in noise and vibration reductions. I have an underdrive pulley, which caused the serpentine belt tensioner to rattle. Again, within 300 miles, high idle, or normal idle the tensioner stays steady, no oscillation , no rattle.
I just put Cermax in the Tiptronic. I'm hesitant to say it's working better because of Cermax because I now have a higher percentage of Redline D4 (over the OEM) fluid in the transmission as well. At any rate the car seems to launch with more authority. I never detected any slipping before but since I did the fluid change and added Cermax when I step on the accelerator it just moves right out.
I do have a Tip chip but frankly I never felt it did anything for the transmission. The underdrive pulley made it quicker off the line but it does create some drivability issues.
I've not seen any increased gas mileage with Cermax in the Passat, although I have seen about a 6% improvement in my '89 Toyota truck.
I've used Cermax in several vehicles, some get more out of it than others but they all get something.

I learned about Cermax from all the controversy it created on BITOG. Those who've tried it think it's great (except for one guy who did see improvements but still wanted his money back) and those who haven't tried it, don't ever want to try it and think it's snake oil like all the rest.
