Magnaflow problems need help!

Hello everyone, here's my problem... (2.2 ecotec, 2002 sunfire gt)

I just went down to toronto yesterday to get my new magnaflow exhaust system put on. But it's EXTREMLY loud. I even had to get him to put a resonator on it because he said it'd help, but it didn't help enough :p

I bought the whole exhaust system, with a muffler on each side, 4-1 pacesetter header, hi flow cat. and i have an AEM cai already previously installed (which i loved on it's own, now i can't even hear it)

I've paid around 2,500$ now after everything. And i guess I didn't put enough research into this because i don' t think i'll be able to stand the sound much longer.

Can anyone please help me out with my situation?

Simple fix. Ditch those annoying magnaflows for a dynomax super turbo. Best muffler ever for our cars.

what size of mufflers and resonator are you using?

I had close to the same setup...

pacesetter 4-1, magnaflow high flo cat, and dual magnaflow street series mufflers. I had rasp between 3,000-5,000rpms to the point where I was embarrassed to get on the car.

I added an 18" resonator and it took care of it all. Mine is all 2.5" and stainless tubing was all done by us...

Hmmm I see. I'm not 100% sure on the size of my exhaust setup sorry. But it looks very similar to Cody@RDfabs. All I can tell is that it has the oval shaped mufflers on the end.
A little update is that it seems the noise is getting a bit quiter since the day of purchase. Am I just getting used to it now? Or do exhausts have a break in period? It's a little more bearable but i'm still thinking of getting a bigger resonator like Cody Mentioned.

Going a little off topic (don't want to waste and start a new thread) What would you guys suggest i go for next regarding mods. I drive about 300km a day 5 days a week and i want to keep reliability a #1 priority. I'm not looking to spend huge amounts of money, and am not planning on boosting this engine. I've been reading a bit on pulleys, would it be a good idea to use an underdrive pulley or my situation adn setup? What about in the winter would it affect the heating in the car? and would the gains be noticable?

Sorry for all the questions. And much thanks and appreciation for the responses so far.

It might just be you.. going from stock (almost no noise) to after market (holy crap my cars loud) can be a bit of a shock.. it made me a little bit sick when i put on a full exhaust and HATED the noise it made.. but after i put a HUGE cherry bomb resonator and fixed the rattles (and tunnel blasted a couple hundred times) it started making the right noise.. i even purchased a 2.25" tip to put over the 2.5" muffler to shut it up.. and now i like the noise it makes so much i don't even use the tip..

I guess im trying to say is that at first its like buyers remorse.. at first your like (ahh crap it too loud...) then its like (oh yeah my cars louder)

like you at first i was like "omg my car sound like crap i want to sell it" and now im like "omg i can hear my car from a mile away.. thats AWESOME!"
