lifespan of a glasspack

Well, after searching every glasspack post, ive heard guys using them for years, but my question is, will I be changing these things out every year or so?

I've got a super long thrush ive been looking to install for a while, but didnt know if I was just wasting my time, to cut it off, and redo soon. Most older school v8 guys, said they blew out quick, and a friend with raspy exhaust neon r/t, said his lasted about a month before it started to get nasty again.

Im a s/c'd eco cav, with bolt ons, and have a header, with 2.5 catless exhaust back to a 22" magnaflow oval muffler. I've pondered getting a long magnaflow round 4" muffler but I figured i'd use this 2.5 perforated one since its just sitting here.
